GM Rear Trailer Hook up - Need Ground & Constant Power

I used a 7 pin round to 4 pin flat connector. The wires are nicely sealed at the factory. I just use the wires I need out of the 4 pin flat. Works great. I paid ~$8 bucks.

i duno just thinking out of the box here, turn on the lights to power the pump? might blow the fuse but the circit can handle it so just go up one in size. Lots of good grounds back there and like everyone has said use the 7way for the connection

Could just hook it up to the ground and the running lights. Just use the light switch on the truck to turn on and off the pump.

If you do that I would use a relay and pull power from the aux circuit.

You're only going to need two wires, positive and ground. Go with the cheapy from Walmart.

Have you put much thought into how you are going to switch the pump?

Yes, I have. There is a switch on the pump for when I use it on the gator. I do not need to remotely turn it on and off for this use. Most of it will be spraying with the wand around the business and not with the booms.

For the rest of the discussion. This is a 2008 GMC 2500 Dmax. I am sure there would be 100 cool things I can do, but I only need a good power source and ground.

I just built a 55 gallon spray rig for a guy this year with 12' booms in exchanged for him spaying my property. He paid for all the parts and material. If I remember right I got a pump at Tractor Supply and it pulled less than 10 amps so I am sure you will be fine with the circuity that is there.

wire diagram is on the 7 way plug cover, cant get more "kiss" than that. 1 thing I would do and its really easy is put an inline fuse on the hot (12 volt) side of the pump as close to the trailer plug as possible. much easier to replace a fuse there than in the truck and will keep the flame factor down if something goes south.

On the 2008 The fuse is in place but there is a wire that is disconnected below the master cylinder that needs run to a stud on the front edge of the fuse box. I believe it is stud one.
