Here is a few more from tonight.

Nice pictures!...and you have some cute kids. :D

I always look forward to hay season, but i dread putting it up in the barn.

That's nice country in Wisconsin!

Do you deer hunt ?

I have been there 5 times when i use to drive a truck, and i delivered tractors to different dealers in Wisconsin... and i always enjoyed going there.

How much does your large bales weigh ?

Thanks for sharing your pictures!

Duffster, do you wrap these bales ? It looks much greener than the haylage we wrap... maybe its because you guys mostly grow alfalfa mixtures ? And are these 3x3 bales ?
Another factor that might make it possible to bale greener hay is that the Dutch climate near the sea, is much more moist, than in the N.A. plains. Over here it rots much quicker ;)

No, but they have a fair amount of preservative on them.

This was kind of strange circunstances for us.
The hay was cut just before dark in the evening, the next day was cloudy, the next was a perfect drying day but cool then the day we baled we had a sprinkle at Noon.
This hay was rake at ~5pm and baled after 7 pm just in front of a large storm.

And are these 3x3 bales ?

Yes

I think it is still so green because it layed while it was overcast and cool plus baled on the tough side.
