1st time buyer. How much tractor do I need?

ORBrit: Your property sounds a lot like mine. I get by fine with a 16-hp B7300, a four-foot rotary cutter, and a five-foot rake.

Another advantage of a little tractor like mine is that there's always a supply of volunteer nephews for each new project.

Any gates or access to my yard is always done in such a way as to accomodate a full sized truck.

Ditto that... 16' or 20' gates only at my place.. with the one exception of a double 10'.. still a 20' opening though.

Yep. Trees etc that get in the way get cut down. More firewood.

People often post here asking what tractor to buy based on acreage (I did this myself). Really the question is what tasks need doing. I've only got an acre to 2 acres cleared, but I'm using the m59 5-6 hours a day. Thing is, I'm cutting down forest, and turning it into landscaping. That's a far cry from finish mowing the same space.

Though even when that's done, I'd rather rake the driveway with the m59. THough the b3030 would do it fine. Only thing I don't do with the m59 is mow the lawn - 2000+ pounds of foamed tires puts me around 11k pounds. Thats a little hard on the lawn. THough I'd try it if I had turfs

I don't think twice about cutting my lawn with my NH 7610s and 15' batwing... that or the ford 5000 and 10' fixed deck 3pt mower... havn't had a problem yet! really cuts that mowing time down too!

With big enough tires, you could, then fill with helium and end up with no ground pressure at all. Of course that would present a whole set of other problems. :D
