5600 Toolcat "D"
Has anyonje used their Toolcat for any farming activities? I recently used mine to do a bit of hay raking and it worked great. I am thinking of converting a few hay instruments over to hydraulic from PTO so I can p[ull them with the Toolcat.

Never thought about the TC for raking hay but I don't see why not. Raking doesn't require much pulling power. If you have the D version, the ride would be much smoother than a tractor. Does the bed block the view of the rake?

I was using a 10 wheel V rake. The view was awesome with perfect vision out the back via the rear view mirror. The only problem was that my corners were way too sharp (4 wheel steering) for the baler. Might kick the back wheels out next time.

I do have the D version of the toolcat and the ride was quite nice. Burnt a fraction of the fuel I would have with the tractor and the maneuverability was way better. I was a little worried about the radiator screen plugging with grass dust but no problems.

I definitely see some redneck farming implement conversions in my future. Some of the ideas that I came up with while I was going around the field were behind Redneck but I will definitely be trying some conversions. The biggest hurdle that I see is PTO operation. I need to come up with some sort of hydraulic driven PTO or convert each of the implements to hydraulic.

I use mine exclusively for my ranching operation.
Bucket for all kinds of work.
Rotary broom for snow removal.
Post hole digger=well self explanatory.
I bought a sicle bar mower this year and a rake. Shopping for a small square baler with it's own motor. Hoping to find one that works.
Also have a grapple for hay that's a Farmhand loader grapple that I had a plate attached to.
All in all for my 1640 acres of hilly terrain it's a all around great investment.

Some early toolcats have the optional rear pto, maybe you could adapt or come up with something similar. This toolcat for sale has the rear pto.

My Toolcat is used in Farming for:

Hauling large hay bales with the forks.

Shoveling manure into the spreader.

Moving dirt, gravel, rocks, etc. with the bucket.

Shoveling the driveway with the 7.5' snow plow.

Maintaining the fence - tools in the bucket, posts in the back.

Joy rides to check up on the heads - Herefords.

It would probably be easiest to somehow add a pto to the TC rather than trying to find the correct hydraulic motor for each implement. Mount it just above the hitch and run it with hydraulic hoses from the front aux hydraulics. Is your TC hi flow? Hi Flow will give you in the ballpark of near 30 pto hp.

Might try a motor like this:

The TC 5610 with rear pto would be ideal.

I have been looking into installing a PTO on my Toolcat but I don't want to spend the money if it doesn't work. From what I have seen (if I have approx. 30 PTO hp) I think I should be able to run a 9' haybine with reasonable success and maybe a square baler.

I have a D series Toolcat so the PTO would have to be homebuilt. I use my box a lot for fencing, etc... so the 5610 would not be an option. I have high flow also.

Does anyone know what kind of flow I have? I didn't get a manual with my Toolcat.

Standard flow is 18.9 gpm. Hi Flow is 27.9 gpm. Both at 3000 psi.
