A friend told me that Pat's Cat 1 model has too much play when the hooks are lifted up to connect with the standard 7/8" Cat 1 pins; not a tight fit. Has anyone experianced this? Are bushings required?

Not sure what your friends issue is......Pat's work fine as designed.

I wonder if he has some of the "imitation" Pat's Quick Hitch products that Pat is fighting to keep from ruining his good name...

No, he said he has Pats Cat 1, #102. He said the hooks have about an 1/8' to 3/16ths play around the attachment pins and is wondering if bushings are required to take up the slack. It's not a tight fit. How much play do you guys have betwwen the hooks and the lower implement pins? Should there be that much play?

I have the PEC system and haven't noticed any excessive play with the pins. I'll take a closer look at mine next chance I get. Just a thought but maybe your friend should measure his pins and make sure they are 7/8"??

Thanks Kebo. He's the only person I know with the PEC system. He just got them, but I haven't seen them. I'm still thinking of ordering. According to him, he has the 7/8 pins. How much free play do you have between the hooks and the pins.... 1/8 to 3/16th's?

They have to have some slop as there are no balls to allow for movement. Put em on and try em out. If they are wrong Pat will make it right.

I can't tell you exactly how much free play mine has at the moment because my tractor is about 60 miles from here. It'll be next weekend before I can really try to measure anything. I do know that the PEC fits fairly snug, but still has to be able to move freely to change side to side angles as the implement is raised/lowered. Kind of hard to describe, but the PEC doesn't have a pivot ball like your side links normally do. So, there has to some freeplay to allow for that movement.

my cat #2 Pats have just over 1/8 th inch play with new pins. I just miced the pin at 1.125" and the hook has a 1.267 gap which leaves a .142 of slop for the pin. I would think thats normal clearance. My cat #2 Pats have been used three times and are for sale if anyone is interested.
