Sorry Mr. Green. You don't get off that easy! :D

You have to report back what happens when you serve up the CCP! :D

So does the mean I got post 100 in this dubious thread? And you will report back at with post 101! :D:D:D:D

BTW I liked your summation of the good and bad of CCP. :) The review sounded like the ones I read in a cooking magazine I get.

Later,
Dan
I guess that means i should have read that cooking magazine and saved a lot of chest pains and stomach upset. i did find a few fairly comprehensive online reviews but no clear message came out of them. some folks like this and some folks like that. in the end, there was no substitute for a full blown taste test. despite the gastrointestinal and financial costs it was kind of fun. i am hoping that the next potluck dinner is completely peaceful and uneventful. peace and calm and nothing to write about will be fine with me. but if it does end up that i manage to blow it again, i promise you good folks here will be the first to know.

I'm bumping his thread for two reasons. First is that I want to know how the pies were received at the potluck dinner. Nice to know that google can find good a good pie. :)
Second reason is that I myself needed to know which frozen pies are edible. I've been working and living in Poughkeepsie quite a bit this year and I have had to fend for myself at meal time. My dinner for one, culinary skills are quite a disappointment. I guess I've been married too long. I have finally resigned myself to the idea of frozen dinners. As I stared at the frozen food display case in the grocery store, this thread came to mind. Then I was wishing I had one of those fancy cell phones so I could browse to TBN right then and there. Thanks for the reviews JDeereman. Your chest pains and stomach upset have benefited mankind. At least from my perspective it has. :)
I'll be making note of the top three pies for my next shopping trip.

Hi steve, how are you? i haven't been online here for a very long time (complicated story) but i got the email notification of your post so here i am back again. it seems like a lifetime ago that we had these good laughs (and lots of indigestion) over chicken pot pie and how your suggestion of two fat cats ultimately saved the day for me but i see that it has only been 11 months. wow. the short answer to your question is that i did get the chicken pot pies from two fat cats in portland and they went over great. i recovered my reputation (as much as it was recoverable) and i believe that two fat cats got some new customers out of the deal as well. yes, i told them where they came from. it cost me a small fortune and it was a bit of a hassle, but it was all worth it in the end.

if I were you, i would not do a whole lot of experimenting like i did. for one person, forget about cheap or popular or convenient and just go for the very best pies you can afford right off the bat and you will be a happy man. thanks again for your help and good luck to you in poughkeepsie. :)

Theo : ...a great thread. Caught it for the first time today and read it through. Nice job!

Bird : .....thanks for bringing back great memories! when I was younger, my mom made "chicken-ala-king" ON TOAST, . . fairly often and we loved it. I have not had it since. She made it with fresh peas also and chopped red pepper for the colour (I think)? Your mention gave me some good ideas for a "very soon" dinner!

Rox : I was pullin' for you, (as were many) glad it was a success!! Your little pastry cups looked very inviting,..good job! If you read this, please check in,.. we miss you!
