Need advise on a disc cutter 3 point for hay.

I am looking to purchase a 3 point disc mower to cut hay. I have a kubota l4400 with 44hp. I am interested in a 6 to 7 foot model. Any suggestions from experience on this board. I have checked on kuhn, massey and vermeer but all are in the $8k range. Any other comparables that are a little less? Thanks for any advice.

You're a bit light on horsepower, you might consider a sickle bar mower. Alternatively, I believe Carter & Carter (search for CCI on this board) sells a drum mower that only needs 20hp.

Take a look at the CCM drum and disc mowers.

The 3pt disk mowers are very heavy; my neighbor has one (8 - 9'?) on his 50hp kubota and he says that it is hard on the tractor. He is in the process of replacing it with a wider cut but tow type disk mower.
