Do many of you buy used implements from Tractorhouse? Seems most of the listings are in the Midwest, and as I live in the South, I wonder how freight would work. How are things shipped, and if a loading dock isn't readily available, how does that work? Can things go to a terminal of some kind and be picked up? What would you expect to pay for say a plow weighing 700 lbs? What has been your experience with things bought sight unseen?

To my knowledge Tractorhouse doesn't sell anything...they list dealer inventory and sometimes listings by individuals. As a general rule, if I can't go get something, I'll pass on it. The freight charges are usually pretty high. For a little 700# plow, the freight will typically be more than the cost of the used plow.

Try Used Tractors and Farm Machinery from Fastline they should have stuff close to you, along with craigslist.com

I never have been one to drop very much money on sight unseen. As you found tractorhouse does not seen to have anything near us so I no longer waste time on their site. I cruise craigslists locally and places that I do not have to invest more than a day to go look/buy and be back home.

Thanks Mike for this link. It is an interesting source. I will add it to my favorites and keep an eye on local listings.

No personal experience (yet), but I've heard good things about uShip.com - you post the source zip code and the destination zip code and the weight, and shippers bid on the job. Often it's shippers would are returning from a job empty, so they're looking for work. They post recent real-life examples that you can use to estimate what it'll cost as well.
