Insurance Tractor insurance

I've looked into getting insurance for my tractor with little luck. My current problem is that I don't have a valid street address at my property and everyone I've talked to thus far needs an address to base their premiums from. When they hear that my tractor is basically under a tarp in the middle of the woods they really back off. Now I'm close to pouring my footers which will start the process of obtaining an address and I would like to know if there are any insurance companies that you would recommend. My property is in Rockbridge County in VA.

When talking to your insurance agent tell them that the tractor is used to help maintain your primary residence but will be stored offsite. That's how I was able to get my insurance to cover it. Usually your home owners insurance will cover a certain amount of offsite personal belongings.

Once you pour your footers, I would assume you will be getting an insurance policy for construction. Check with you agent, it'll probably be covered as soon as you begin construction. If I recall, all of my tools & stuff were covered while I built mine.

Flood most likely wouldn't be covered, but generally everything else is. Theft and fire are the most likely claims.

If you are building a home and have the tractor out there...you can get "builders insurance".....I had a riding mower stolen by one of my brickers and they covered it. It only had about 15 min. on it....It pissed me off because I had a 500 dollar deductable.

Yup..That whole deductable thing really hurts...It's really bad when it's done to you like that.

If its just an "address" you need,....what about how the property is registered in your County etc,...got to have such as a lot #, concession # on some side road etc. You must have a deed, tax papers or something "legal" that will pass for an address. If not, how do you prove the land is yours? Pouring the footings for a building, or even a finished home shouldn't alter the address of the property,...unless you are waiting for them to give you a "house number" and you don't need that for a legal address. How do you direct the building supply drivers?

It pissed me off because I had a 500 dollar deductable.

My wife always checks what the difference in premiums is between high and low deductibles on all our insurance policies . The cost has been so close that we go with the lower deductible. Helps to alleviate the sting when we have to make a claim.
