We watched them at Andrew's AFB last year, they are simply amazing.

........and I was ready for them! With camera in hand and a steady finger poised in position on the shutter release.

There is a classic air museum in the Dallas area and it is really great to see some of the old WWII planes fly over. About 2 mos ago a B 17 flew over. I heard it coming long before I saw it. The sound of the four big radial engines was just great. The engines were barely working and the plane was so majestic. It makes you feel proud.

The Yankee Air Museum is headquartered at the airport and sponsors the yearly air show. They have a B17 that flies and is available for rides!

Welcome to the Yankee Air Museum

There's a U-tube video (7 minutes) of many of the planes that fly in and take part in the air show. Pretty Impressive.

Pensacola Naval Aviation Museum is fantastic... I could spend days in there (free too) and the National Air and Space Museum at Dullas (free also) is great!

The title enticed me also. Photographing them at those speeds is tough. Kudos!
Here was my photo effort of an airshow over Lake Michigan a few weeks ago. The Thunderbirds were the featured act. Sorry about the jumbled gallery, Apple can't figure out how to keep the photos in order.

You could crop a few of those and bring them in close and I'd bet you'd have some some super shots. You have to really be able to anticipate the shot. It takes some practice. You did good! The Thunderbirds just did an air show at Selfridge air force base on the eastern coast of Michigan.

I've had a camera in for repair with a longer zoom lens (Fujifilm S9000, has not been a good experience). It just was delivered back to me today. Hopefully my long distance photography will improve now.

Yeah I do need to crop a few of them. We were in a hurry to post/share them and I didn't take the time.
I hope the camera repair was successful. It frustrating dealing with problems. I screwed up and damaged my camera and I'm still debating on getting it repaired.

You really fooled me with your subject line. Me too in the first pic I was looking and looking where are the cops? Great pics and it is awsome to see. The EAA show in Oshkosh Wisconsin is the big one to see. We went many many times. Tose harrier jets are amazing, and yes even far away you could feel thier heat. The show every year bfings in so many different aircraft, what a great show.
But now I have front row seats for the French air acrobatic team. It is literally a mile away from us and we can see thier airfield from our farm. We like to say that we don't have air traffic we have air entertainment :) Take a look YouTube - Patrouille de France HD Le Bourget Airshow Paris
They practice this right over our farm. I know thier whole show. Next week we will be going to the air force base along with a couple vineyards and local soap factores and we set up a few tables as a welcome to Salon de Provence for the new officers who are starting. We dont' sell anything we jsut give olive oil tastings. It is kind of like a little community welcome. Our air force base is the equivelent of the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. In fact they do a cadet exchange program. We got to be and still are very good freinds with the US Captain who was stationed here running the program on the US side. He was an F15 (F 16?) pilot, nicest guy. His wife is now going to medical school at Stanford in Clifornia.

Our airforce base is nice in that it is mainly for the air acrobatic team and officers school and also a court of military justice not a traditional air force base where you ahve a lot of air traffic all the time. I am very excited that next year our base will be home to the squadron of fireighting planes. Their current base is only about 15 miles away. I think it will be fun and informative to know when fires are going on as I'll be able to see the planes take off. Plus if we ever have a fire they will know our property rally well. We also get quite a few helicopters as the landing pad for the expressway helicopters are about half a mile away. They use a lot of helicpoter around here. One very interesting way they use helicopters, well this is probably before Google earth and such, but they use them to see if you have declared that swimming pool you built because there is an extra tax for swimming pools. I'ts nice we have air entertainment, not air traffic :)
