Farmwithjunk,
I've been eyeballing the Tiger setup; went so far as to email them with several questions. They claim it can work with a FEL attached. However, you state it takes a dedicated tractor. Can you not detach either rear flail? Does the side flail not allow the use of the FEL?
(sorry slightly OT) I would be purchasing this in a couple of years after I put in irrigation and about 30 acres of a 45 acre plot planted in chinese chestnuts. Also, I plan on buying more acerage for additional chestuts or improved black walnut or northern pecans. Plan is to buy a cabbed tractor in the 85 pto hp range and pay my dad to mow as I'm in the Army. These trees should come productive about the time I retire from the military. Trees would be on 30' centers for the first 15-20 years with a 6-8 ft strip of landscaping cloth/pine needle mulch. I am thinking the tiger setup would be great for this. However, because of the $, I might just go with an 8-12ft brush hog orchard flail and sneak it down the backroads if I have to jump from farm to farm (plan is to buy a couple more farms in the 100 acres range for a total of 250-300 acres and within 3-5 miles of existing property). This is in rural North Central Missouri. Slightly rolling to flat marginal row crop ground (my 45 acres is currently being row cropped but would have made an ideal candidate for CRP--averages between 30-35 bushels of beans). Pasture floor will be either white clover/bluegrass mix or red clover/timothy mix.
Thanks for any input.
