see where a lot of guys are adding 4/5 bottles of stp to their transmission fluid, Have always thought that stp was a good product but I never put it in a transmission. thoughts from all of you experts. thanks j

I would never do that.

Use SUDT and forget about it.

I used stp on an old S-10 once that had a somewhat sloppy engine. I quess the only thing I can say about it is............NEVER NEVER AGAIN!!!. The truck smoked so bad from the crap that I couldn't even see it while it was running. I agree with Mswlogo find another way.

Nothing like spending all that money on stp to screw things up when you could have done it rite/better for less with SUDT.

Did you ever hear of a mechanic that would use STP in anything other than perhaps a race car on which they completely disassemble and rebuild the engine after each race? Maybe such exists, but I haven't met one yet.

Putting STP in in a tractor's transmission would be a bad idea. The viscosity of UDT and SUDT is rathre thin for a reason. To thicken the fluid up would cause issues with warm up and would most likely cause the fluid to run hotter than it already does.

I run straight UDT here in western Washington, where the temperature is rather mild, year round. In colder climates the recomendation would be the SUDT fluid.

I've raced for many years and don't use STP in anything.
