Street legal?

I stopped and asked a F.D.O.T officer that same question, as it is rather expensive to have my Ford 7710 moved across town on a Landall trailer behind a semi truck. Since it is 13 foot 3 inches wide, it is a requirement to have an escort with the oversize truck. I figured driving it would be cheaper, but was told (didn't see it in writing) that I could drive it up to 10 miles on the roads, but only if going from one farm of mine to another farm of mine. Not the answer I wanted, but I guess I have to deal with it.

Hello ..first I'd dont know what size a B26 is but if it only 20hp power I'd wouldn't drive it down the road but across the road should be find. Its way too slowwwwww.lol...
Sandman we have some large duals NH one is a 7710 and it only 12ft 3in..you must have to much air in them tires..lol...As for FDOT I belive he might be talking about have a cdl where as if you and only you own that tractor JUST for your farm then you can pull it on a trailer from one farm to another farm within 10 miles. And yes somethimes they will follow you just to prove you are not lieing about the farm down the road. As for are over size duals we just get in them and drive them down the road up to 60 miles away one way...and no escort. We try the lowboy even though it does not cost us for using one of my friends it just take to much time by the time he gets here chained it down then drive to job and unchain. Sorry for the long wind

Troopers never have a sense of humor about those kinds of things.

How many of them do you think will follow you to make sure you don't go more than 10 miles? ;)

Simply punching a few keystokes on their laptop will tell them 1) the ownership of any farms or properties owned by me. 2) the distance between the two. 3) the route between them and if I am on that route or even close.
Since Florida has a couple different agencies that do what PSC, DOT, etc do in other states, I asked the officer who was manning the weigh station on I-95 about 65 miles south of here. Another trip I asked the officer manning the Florida Ag station near the state line (who was clueless as to the correct answer). I also stopped one of the officers who drive the little cars with the blue lights on top and F.D.O.T written on the side that most of us truck drivers avoid at any expense (found him guarding a rest area one evening). All three times I was operating a tractor trailer, so the assumption that I have a CDL is pretty much a given.
Pretty much what I am saying, is each state has different views on this and you should check into YOUR STATE'S LAWS. My state doesn't have the leniency of some of the more agricultal states, but I already figured that.

I take my B3030 for a spin on the roads around the house all the time, but I never get more than a mile or two away. Generally I do this after I wash it to make sure everything is dry or when I go to help a neighbor with something or just take my boy for a ride. I have one neighbor who has delivery people getting stuck all the time in her yard. So far I have pulled out the cable TV guy, a furniture delivery truck and most lately the UPS truck, my other neighbor always gets his Scag stuck when he backs in the woods too far to empty his bags, I am up to 3 times for him. I leave a shackle on my drawbar for these phone calls. I also drive on the roads to plow a couple driveways. I am much less scared of police than plow trucks, I can tell you that. The last trip down to her house on my B3030 I passed a CT State Trooper who returned my polite wave and that was all.

I live in typical CT rural and I see tractors driving down the road all the time, no SMV signs, nothing, and some pretty crazy farm implements.

When I was a kid I worked on a broad leaf tobacco farm in Enfield CT, we drove tractors with long wagons ALL over town, from field to barn, and when the owner wasn't looking we would bring them home for lunch, all kinds of crazy stuff, never once had a problem except for when one of the idiots decided to take a mail box out with a Super M. We all had to go buy and install a mailbox for the guy, we learned our lesson.

I also used to mow the farm owners lawn, and at his sons house, I used to drive the garden tractor about 10 miles between the two houses, I loved it, easy money driving around on a garden tractor, pretty cool when you're 14. Plenty of cops, believe me, never once anything more than a wave. And this is in a town where they call the SWAT team if you go right on red.

How do you figure that.

I farm property that isn't in my name. Does that mean I can't drive to it?

I have a B26 which I use in a rural area of Ontario. However, I do cross and sometimes drive for very short distances on public roads. Does anyone know what the legalities are? As an example, do I need a licence plate and in Ontario that likely means I also need liability insurance??
Hi lakeside
I live in Ontario also and as I understand it the driver of the tractor must hold a valid drivers license, must have a SMV also
It sure helps to have flashing lights also
Headlights on helps
As far as insureance goes I would call your agent to make sure

Town I live in has a wonderful website with a property search function. Tells all just who owns what. I am sure if pressed, and I didn't own the property, that I would need to come up with some sort of lease to prove it. Or the fine law official might have been blowing smoke. I am SURE that laws are different in EVERY TOWN, much less every different state. I grew up in a town that still has a JD that drags main (we kids always drove down main street and parked at each end, to see who was doing what, and to have something to do...) I saw it while on vacation last month and my wife (always from a big town) couldn't believe it.

I use my tractors for snow removal and always drive them from site to site. I have them insured under my contractors policy. I asked my insurance agent if there is a "pink slip" to show I'm insured if I'm stopped or have an accident and was told I don't need one. My Dad has his tractor covered under his homeowners policy and was told that he is covered to drive it down the side of the road.

I would agree with others to have a SMV sign and get it insured and you should be fine.

From what I understand you need a drivers license to operate on the road
This is what an OPP officer told me some years ago and it makes sense seeing your on the public road
As for insurance ask your agent
