where to buy a decent diesel fuel can

well, there's a good cheap idea! ...just the kind i like

I just added my own vent to the vent less cans. Bought some metal valve stems at the auto parts store, drilled a hole at the top rear of the can, and removed the valve core. Hardest part was getting the valve to feed up from inside the can. I dropped a string thtough the hole and fished it out the spout opening, tied it around the valve, pulled it up and screwed the nut on.

I have several of the older Northern 5 gallon metal blitz cans with the metal screw down tops. When the new EPA rules came out, you could only buy the cans with the newer plastic type vented tops. I was in Northern the other day and noticed that now the cans have both type of tops included with the can. The older screw down top AND the newer plastic vented type. I guess too many of the cheepie plastic tops got busted up and they included the old tried and true. The picture does not show the older top included with the can. Hmmm...maybe I better buy 1 or 2 more before the feds find out...

Hey guys, if you're looking for a no spill fuel can, maybe I can help you by posting this link. My dad used it and he said that it's very reliable. Maybe you should try it too..

Are you and Kaabi running "The Hardware City" site? :)

No offense, but that is exactly the type of fuel can that I hate. It is too hard to be holding 40 lbs of fuel, one foot on an implement, one foot on the R4 tread hoping not to slip, one hand holding the tank where there isn't a handle, while the other is trying to hold down a stupid button.

That is the first time I have ever seen an image of one of those new cans. What a PITA it looks like. I think if we get to implementing them up here I'm going to buy a gross of the old ones.

I hate gas cans in general, seems no matter what I do I spill darned fuel.

Well you haven't used one - you should give it a try and you might change your mind.
I LOVE those cans, or more specifically, the no-spill nozzles with the button. I bought a nozzle like that for my old 5 gal diesel can. The advantage as far as I am concerned is that I can take this big heavy can, get it in position with the nozzle in the hole, and then press the button to release fuel. I never feel like I need a third arm, in fact, quite the opposite. For me it is much easier to use a can that doesn't go spilling fuel while I get it into position.

Now that makes a lot of sense when you say it. I went to the supply store yesterday evening and we can't even buy this type of can here yet.

You can get the no-spill fuel can online too. I'm so glad they're available online as I don't have much time to shop nowadays.

Do yourself a great favor and get a racing fuel jug. Jaz makes some and there are other mfg. as well. I have two and they are great. Google them and several places to get them show up.

I like the idea of pulling a tire stem through a hole, remove the core, and use the cap to seal it after use.
