I keep reading that Massey Ferguson sells more ag equipment than anyone???

That's what I'll believe anyway........I like Massey's:D:D:D

I'v not heard of that in awhile, I know MF dominated the tractor market pre 90's, But I see alot of Deere and Case in my area ( I own a NH myself).
But also Massey is part of AgCo now,

Also are you looking for manufacturers or sales? CNH might be in sales, but I don't see how they could beat AgCo in made product. Some of the NH product is made by Kuhn, some of the Case by others. Agco makes most if not all of the products they make. At 1 time Massey which is part of AgCo was #1 or #2 in world wide tractor sales. Kuhn makes a lot of product for others. Claas is another that has stuff made for them by others, some Claas tractors were made by Cat. I don't see how anyone could claim anything other than total sales volume, not largest manufacturer.
Another gray area is the compact CNH tractors were made by a company in Japan, yet assembled here in the states.

The Claas Challengers are no longer made, Claas bought Renault to have their own tractor line to complement their hay line and harvester line. They also own the Lexion plant that was a joint venture with Cat after Cat sold out to Agco. I don't remember what is going on with it right now if Agco is selling the Lexions or if Cat still sells them but they are being sold by someone still.

I was just on Massey's North American web site. It states they are the world leader in tractor sales and that their are more MF's at work than any other brand. Truth or marketing??? I know they do seem more poular in Europe than here.

Too bad they didn't do like John Deere and Harley and sell their name to everyone from truck makers to toilet paper :D;)

That could be true for tractor sales alone, but I am guessing it would be hard to beat JD in total equipment sales. Just look at the combine sales alone compared to MF.

Now is that Massey Combine Sales compared to JD? HEHE I have yet to see a MF combine in RL

Also on a side note to my understanding Lexion is a Cat/Claas partnership, its a Claas machine with Cat engine and etc (correct me if Im wrong) and sold at Cat Dealers. When I was out in Manitoba I stopped at a Cat Dealer and they had over 10 new Lexions sitting on the lot, it was really impressive view.

Heres a link to the lexion history Lexion

We have a tiny MF dealer that only sells about 4 or 5 tractors a year and even they sell one new MF combine a year. I figured there would be more of them in Canada.

The last I knew, Claas made MF combines, but that was a while ago.

I am under the understanding that AGCO has the "Cat" stuff now, but I dont pay that much attention to what AGCO is buying and selling on a daily basis.

Funny, we have a tiny MF dealer also, and I don't think they even Sell 4 MF tractors a year. I drove past it tonight and they now have a 936 Fendt and a AgCo brand tractor sitting on the lawn also.

I don't think Claas made MF Combine, or at least no longer do, after just reading the entire MF combine brochure, I found this
The Combine Assembly Line - Massey Ferguson 9000 Series combines are manufactured in the Heartland of America- Hesston, Kansas. A new state of the art facility totaling 120,000 ft2 (11,148 m2) is dedicated to combine assembly. I think that might be the Agco Combine plant which makes gleaners also.

Lexion is 100% Claas owned now as it says on that site, CLAAS Omaha is responsible for manufacturing, sales and support of all LEXION products sold in the U.S. and Canada. Weird thing is, they are still sold at Cat Dealers, Also they made in Omaha, Nebraska.

Yes they did several neighbours have MF conventionals..I think early 90's models that are definateley claas dominators .
They also re-painted the earlier dominators as "Ford" combines and replaced the perkins or merc with a ford motor..!
