My dad's battling for his life right now. :( I can't believe how long he has hung in there. He's been really sick since '05.

It sounds like NMU has had too many problems to ever like his GM again. That's why I suggest he switches back to ford again or gives dodge, nissan, toyoya a try. I know how he feels. I've had a few vehicles like that.

I thought L-Enterprises was Tom (Broker)!!!!!! I could tell when he ripped me for switching to GM and the other clue was when he said "big box concrete". I do "small box concrete". lol

Sorry about your dad Duane , it can be tough on the family too .

I just like to give ya rip to make sure you're payin' attention ... :D

Sorry to hear about your problems nmu98, and you're absolutely right that an expensive truck with low miles shouldn't be breaking like that.

I grew up a GM man; but my 1983 S-10 pickup was such a lemon that I swore I would never buy GM again, and I haven't.

Best of luck in getting GM to make things right for you. Is there a 'Lemon Law' in your state?

Sad to say all manufactures make poor vehicles and I just don't get how that's possible with computers and the testing they do.

I bought a new Ford and the temps coming out of the air conditioner was 72 degrees and the dealer said that was per spec. WHAT 72 degrees - spec. I took it back so many tomes the only way to fix it was to get rid of it.

Next Ford had the infamous death rattle and the manufactures fix was to keep the tires inflated.

I bought a Chrysler product that died on the way home ( new vehicle ) they never could fix it and gave me another one.

The GMC Duramax I had overheated with only 1000 miles on it - again dealer said THAT'S NORMAL. GM never did come up with a fix for that one.

I could go on and on, but I think I made my point.

I am with others and all of them have problems. I will say I may take a second look at ford just for the fact they did not take the bail out. I will give them hats off for that. It would be one thing if the other two took it and recovered but they blew it.

Anyway enough about that. I have a 2006 chevy durmax with 112,000 miles on it. it has been in twice. Had faulty power steering and trans cooling lines. All started leaking at 68,000 miles and only 2 years old. GM covered half of the repair. Had tires go bad at 30k but no other problems. I hope this does not jinks it.

If you continue you may want to look into the Lemon Law and see if you qualify.

Good luck

My 04 Dodge has been good to me. I had it in a couple of times for warranty work but it hasn't been in for quite some time now. This is the longest I've ever owned a new vehicle. Kinda funny it ends up a Dodge when I used to be Ford and GM over the years and it's not falling apart around me. When it comes to pickup trucks and diesel, there is no foreign choice. We try to stay big three with all of our big ticket vehicle purchases. So far we have.

Everyone is into bashing gm these days, from this post to the ones on medium duty to several others. I have said before that I am a PROUD GM owner, years under my belt as a GM medium and light duty tech and now spend my days running a gm service department.
The new d-max's do not and will not get the same mpg's as the older ones due to 2 things, a DPF, and more power. The torque race has cost us mpg's and those week california lab rats that die from everything have choked the engines way down.
I have 50k plus on my 07 v-max with only one issue and that was a rear axel seal, have 40k on a 08 denali yukon, only issues it has had were a couple of trim items. I have a guys truck in here right now that is an 08 d-max cab and chasis, most of his weigh sheets are between 25k abd 29k and his average mpg is 15 after 70k of driving.

it does not matter if its a 1000.00 beater or a 70,000 rig its gonna break something. When you look around down here in you see a pretty even amount of the big 3 yet the dodge and ford stores are always backed up in their service departments, that tells me alot. The fact that the ford and dodge guys are always comparing their trucks to a gm tells me something.

I drive and own what i know about, i buy what makes sense to me, i realize nothing and no one is perfect, I understand the economy is in bad shape and people with way more power than me are trying to fix it, I vote and I sleep cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

I am glad you are proud of GM. We need techs like yourself. Thanks for all your help witht he TSB's and you giving me the heads up to push because the ones you have seen in your dealer had mroe wrong with them. It helped alot!

I worked on the remotes last night. I could not get anything to work. Off to the dealer. The good news is that there were no cut or peeled back wires in the loom that was tore!

So after only a few months, you've determined GM & Chrysler "blew it", and won't recover? Turning GM around in that short of an amount of time is impossible.

You might be surprised to hear this, but GM is actually re-hiring workers for the Ohio Cobalt plant.

If all you've had go wrong in 112,000 miles is the leaky lines, you're doing good! :)

I was hoping for that........

This is not a huge deal, but my remote door locks no longer work. I have tried both remotes... Nothing. They stopped working last night after the ride home from work....

I have checked all the fuses and they are good. I know that one of the remotes batteries are good, and I did not test the other.

I am researching if I can reset them to the vehicle now, but my fear is that some wiring probably chaffed and shorted with the body movement?

I hope not to be chasing this around for a while.....

The truck is driving great other than this little issue..... Very few rattles compared to before!

Not to add insult to injury but my neigbor had the same sort of issues with my 2007 Dmax. He had a mount break on the front end allowing the hood to shift. It was plagued with blown fuses and when he opened the hood to look for a blown fuse the drivers side hood hinge let go and the hood hit the windshield breaking it. All this on the day he was leaving for a trip from Indiana to Florida. Not saying its a common item but I also had electrical problems with my 2005 Dmax. On his they did fix the mount, hood, and windshield and at that time they found a chaffed wiring harness from the under hood fuse box that was causing all his problems. Hope they get the truck fixed right for you.

Most people who have written GM and Chrysler off have done so due the combination of putting out poor quality units and taking billions from the government with no intention of paying them back. That is along with bankrupting thousands of people along the way who trusted the manufacturers to do what they said they would do; i.e., pay for the parts and services delivered to them. Two rather large suppliers in my area went under when GM failed to pay them for components already delivered to GM. Chrysler has a similar trail of wrecked businesses and lives in their wake.

Contrary to what some may think, Ford did take some government money. The difference, and it's a big difference, is that they didn't stick it to any suppliers and they are on track to pay the government back by the end of 2010. GM and Chrysler have no such intentions. Some say "it's only business", but I believe a man (or company) is only as good as their word and promise. In their contracts with their suppliers they promised in writing to pay for the parts they were supplied. Via bankruptcy, they broke that promise and severely damaged not only the suppliers but all of their workers and their families. I firmly feel that rewarding bad behavior is a poor choice. Without a doubt, millions of people feel the same. That is why Government Motors is in for further rocky waters in the near future. So, if a poster has implied that GM blew it, there likely is much more to that conclusion than a narrow view wearing blinders. GM owes me a couple of loaded 1 ton diesel pickups based on what I lost by having some faith in them expressed by owning their stock. I have place no stock (pun intended) in them doing the right thing and making good on the billions they cost their stock holders. It's gonna be a tough road for them to sell stock in the so called "new GM".

I'm more of a forgiving person. I give people a chance to make things right.

Some of the banks that got money a year ago paid it back already. Chrysler paid its' rescue money back with interest in the 80's in their first bailout. Chrysler remained healthy for 20+ years because of that loan and America reaped the benefits in jobs, GDP and tax revenues.

I will give them a chance to make good on paying the money back rather than say the blew it already.
