Here's the deal. My wife has to do a bit fo traveling for work, and once onsite uses a laptop.. generally doesn't have good 'space' for a mouse, and absolutely hates the synaptics touchpad built in to her laptop. Laptop is a compaq and has 2 4"x4" flat areas on either side of the touchpad. she has used a small travel mouse on these areas.. but it's just a lil too confined. i need to find a trackball to set on one of those areas. I remember seeing small 'travel' trackballs for laptops that were about the size of a pack of smokes.. I went to best buy, staples, office depot, and radio shack today... all of them only had 2 trackballs.. big one from logitech.. and big one from kensington.

anyone got any sugestions.. tips.. know of any links to sites selling small trackballs?

thanks a bunch.. my wifes about to chew my ear off about that synaptics touchpad..

Hi Chris,

Here are 2 links to travel trackballs. The one at Amazon is 4" x 2" and requires Bluetooth. The Geekalert link is a review of a small USB trackball.

I agree with your wife about touchpads. OK for surfing the Internet but for anything more complicated, I prefer a mouse.

... you MUST adjust the touch pad for you because the defaults will drive YA crazy.

Jeff

Ya! I turn off the feature that lets you tap the pad to click. I always seem to bump the pad at the wrong time. So I turn it off and use the buttons below the touch pad to click with my thumbs. I also adjust the speed so it is correct for me.

I do have a travel mouse that I use. It is a USB corded mouse and is nice and small. Works good in hotels.
