Lets see your stripes

My beloved old Allis Chalmers has rollers built right onto the rear of the MMM deck. They work great.

Like Jimmy's, my mower deck has rollers across the back that give the stripe. Simplicity tractors are good for striping:D
Mark

Thanks Jimmy & Mark for the info.

I have to mow today so I'll try & take some pictures of the lines I was talking about.... But I like stripes a lot better. :D

Here's some better pictures of the rollers. It would not be hard to duplicate as long as your mower has room at the back.

(these are stock photos, not my unit)

Yea that would be easy to make.. Thanks Jimmy!

Have you ever seen anyone make rollers out of PVC pipe ?

I wasn't able to take any pictures today.. I mowed from morning till dark, and I still have about 2 1/4 acres to go in the morning. :D

So here are the pictures on my "lines" in the grass. :D:D.... I like stripes a lot better!

From the road they look good, and a lot of people will stop and ask me how did I get the lines started... (It took me three seasons to get this.)

(Zoom in on the pictures to see them better.) .... I had to angle the camera down to get these to show up.:D

Thanks!.... I have 3 more acres like that.

BUT.... Would you call them lines or stripes ? :D :D

I call them lines.... Some people around here have stripes like yours & marks, and they look great.. and just a few have lines.

It's where the wheels on mower runs... This winter I plan to put a stripe kit on my riding mower, and I"m planning on putting a MMM on my 4300.

Jimmy & mark,

Since you have rollers on to make stripes... Do you cut your grass in the same path each time ?... The reason I ask is, you could end up with stripes & lines. :D

Actually I cut the lawn in a different direction almost every time. Years ago my wife took a horticulture course and they said to do that. We also cut it long, probably at least 2.5 inches or maybe even 3. It's slowly thickening up because the grass stays healthier that way. When we moved here, there was practically no grass and the soil is very bad.

Should we call the lines and stripes in the grass "gripes"??:D

Jimmy you sure got your grass looking good if you have bad soil!

Yea "gripes" would probably be the right name. :D

Actually I'm just now getting into a pattern of mowing this yard, (only the second season) so I guess the answer would be no. I had also heard that you should vary the mowing pattern, but I do not strictly adhere to that rule. As long as I am not causing any undo wear in the grass from turning or maneuvering I am comfortable with keeping the pattern the same.

By the way, I agree with Jimmy. You've got a might fine looking place there.:D
