Keeping squirrels away from the harvest

Don't need no scope to hunt squirrels with a bbgun.

Or else people just don't know how to shoot these days.

It's almost like putting a scope on a nail gun.

I do because my eye sight has problems focusing on the rear and front site so I need an optic, even if its something like a red dot. It really helps when you are getting out there 20 to 30 yards and you see a lot of fuzz for the sites.

Thankfully no birds or squirls like olives. Well maybe they do when they get overly ripe but we pick them before that. I don't know why we don't ahve squirls here, we jsut don't. We have 100 almond trees also but we do ahve wild hogs and wild pigs. But they do nto eat the olives and only eat the nuts that fall on the ground. Now the birds go after the cherries but we have so so many cherries jsut on three huge trees that there is enough to share.

Greetings, We have trouble with squirrels eating whatever we plant. I put a bounty on their heads of $5. My daughter at first used my pump bb gun with sight. Soon, at 8yrs old, she bought her own gun. She is 11 now this year she has already made over $50. There are still a couple around. One has been eating the parsley. She'll get him !
You not being home all day I like the idea of a wire basket around the bunch. Window screen should do it. Richard

Tie a cat to the tree or make a chicken wire fence around it and leave the cat in there.

The cat wont touch your banana, they hate that stuff...they prefer tree rat meat, I have seen cat catch squirrels, not easy though they fail 20 times to make a kill.

Yeah, that can be a problem when you're eyes start going, but what many don't realize is that eyes can only focus on one focal plane anyways, for proper iron sight usage, the target and rear sight are blurry, the front sight is focused on.

Squirrels will eat right through window screen- ask me how I know! I have some hardware cloth; that oughta do it.

I've started trapping again even though my fruit trees are almost bare. Danged possums are eating the cat's food and then barfing it up or squirting it out all over the back stoop! I must need a better quality of cat food! Anyway, I get a possum a night right now, and they're mostly small. Must have been a big litter....hope I eventually get mama so maybe I'll have a lower population for next fruit season. Since I'm getting just possums, the coon population is probably fairly low. Coons tend to run possums off from the easy food sources.

I live trap squirrels and then drown them. You can usually catch several a day using this method. Eventually they are gone.

I had given up on Bon Bons because they were to difficult to mix. Recently, on a cooking show, the cook suggested microwaving peanut butter to reduce the thickness. It works, after 30 seconds in a shallow bowl the consistently was reduced to heavy whipping cream and readily incorporated the PoP. The mixture did not cling to my fingers and retained the color of peanut butter. I cannot vouch for its effectiveness, but it is a breeze to prepare. I placed the BBs in a two foot piece of 4inch plastic corrogated drainage pipe on my patio. Now the wait begins.
