[So you can actually treat an ethelyne glycol ingestion with vodka./QUOTE]

That sounds interesting!:D

Maybe I was thinking of some of the Slug baits.

Seeing as I'm a Senior with all the associated problems there is an excuse. Or mayhap I forgot to ingest all of the seven or so medications taken morning, noon, evening and bedtime the Good Doctors have wisely decreed will cure my Senior moments!:eek:

They tell me the synapse are firing, the pump is regulated, the lines are clear, the fluid is of the low viscosity type with no solids and the acids are neutralized!:D Now if only they could provide a new back!:(

The interesting thing is that if a guy gets drunk and then accidentally drinks antifreeze, the alcohol in his system helps prevent toxicity!

I've been having senior moments my whole life!

depends on your machine.

some are fuel lubed.. some share engine oil.. and some have their own sump.

for instance.. my NH 7610s (delphi) and ford 5000 (CAV) both with rotary pumps are fuel lubed.. my older 3000 with an inline sims pump has it's own oil sump and needs to hae it's oil change at the same time the crankcase oil is changed..

Good Mornin George,
I think Chris pretty well covered it on this post. Of course that doesnt answer what typee the 4400 uses. But at least you get the idea. I believe my injection pump had three screw holes on its side. The bottom screw drained the unit, best to put a shop towel because of a big mess, the top screw was to refill the unit and the middle screw was for the oil level as a site window if you will.

As Chris mentioned, this type of pump uses engine oil, in my case it was 30 wt.

I think I may have adjusted the brakes way back then, but honestly my brakes dont get much use the way I normally use this tractor !

And then of course there is all of the obligatory grease points, which Im sure your on top of all of this !;)

Doh! That's the kind of thing a reasonably intelligent adult like myself should have thought of on my own. Sometime the simplest soultions are the hardest to think of on the spot.
.

That just comes from working on lots of tractors with full sumps.. especially those that hold 10-13 gallons of fluids... real pain in the but to replace a dinged up 35$ utf-hyd filter when in fear of loosing 150$ worth of utf-hyd fluid.. so you get creative! :)

Scotty, I leave the parts and repair manual down at my cabin, where the tractor is so I can't look it up right now, but I'm very curious now.

Chris. I probably lost 3/4 of a gallon of Kubota Super UDT fluid which is ridiculously overpriced (I doubt I'll use it next time). By my calculations that cost me about $16. I did have extra to refill with, but that could have gone in the front axle case when it was time for it to be changed. Oh well. Live and learn. Thanks for the tip.

The only other thing I might add George, (and I am approaching the 200 hour mark, too), would be to drain a couple gallons from the sump into a bucket before unscrewing the filter. What do you all think?

What is the proper antifreeze to use. There are so many different types?

find out if your machine needs a cavitation / electrolysis addative.

I think that would be a good idea. But I see two potential problems. First, my tractor is so small, a 5 gallon bucket will not fit under the pan. So you'd have to get some other container. Probably no big deal. Second, regardless of what type of container you used it would need to be super clean and you'd need to make sure nothing got in the oil during the transfer.
