If you want the Drainzit kit, I know you can get them from Northern Tool, and I wouldn't be surprised if you can pick one up at your local small engine dealer. If your CC dealer doesn't have them, call around to some other dealers and I'm sure 1 of them can hook you up with the right kit for your Kohler.

My MF came with a Drainzit--I don't know if it's factory or dealer installed--and it's nice. Oil changes are very easy, and the flexible hose makes it nice. I just pull the drain plug and stick the hose in my used oil jug; doesn't spill a drop.

Did you cut the shroud yourself? Did you have to remove it?

I did it myself. Two things need to be done to the factory shroud and mount to install the cooler.

1. You need to cut a rectangular hole in the shroud to allow airflow through the cooler. I did mine with a drill and a small saw. A Dremel would work too, maybe even tin snips. You can do it without removing the shroud completely. Fit up the cooler and mark where the hole needs to be. Then take all the bolts loose and pull the shroud back away from the engine.

2. A rectangular hole needs to be put in the sheet metal plate that attaches the shroud to the engine. It's needed for the cooler mounting hardware. I drilled the plate with it still mounted to the engine then used a file to make the hole square. The hole is for a plastic fastener so it doesn't need to be very precise.

They provide a new plate with the correct square hole but it requires flywheel removal to install. The drill and file technique on the old one was much easier IMO.

It's a nice kit. All the parts are good quality and the install really isn't that bad. The oil temps are so high on these engines that they should have installed the cooler from the factory.

I'm sure we know why they didn't $$
