I am looking for an oil filter for the 1500 as i want to do an oil change but am having difficulty locating one for it, it currently has a Sakura C-1605 on it but am unable to locate one here in Australia.I did find a reference for it but it was for a Honda passenger car so i suspect it is not a proper diesel filter.I would like to try and source them here before i look elsewhere(Read:USA) does anyone know of a filter to suit a 2TR-15 of another brand i may be able to find here? we have Ryco,Baldwin,Fram,Cooper,Donaldson and Fleetguard to name a few.Do you have any of these over there?

We see that question here from time to time. After reading replies for some five years, here's my opinion I posted a while back:

Search here on 1064 and 1334 (both in the same search) to see previous discussions. Wix shows 51064 (5 just means 'Wix') for YM240, US version of YM2000. It's a common filter. If 1064 fits YM2000 then it should fit nearly all the smaller YM's as well.

1334 is similar, same interface (threads and gasket), has a larger enclosure which might mean better cooling or longer use before it plugs up. 1334 is near-universal on all Hondas so you should be able to find it anywhere. Some of the aftermarket Yanmar parts dealers call their 'unique custom filter for Yanmar' a 1334 for some reason.

There are some applications (YM2000B etc) where the 1334 is too big to fit the available space, only the little 1064 will fit.

1064 has a higher relief vave pressure. If I remember, 12 psi compared to 8 on the 1334. (It's in one of the posts that the search will bring up). I don't know how this is significant.

Me, I use the NAPA Gold 1064. After you open the box, 'Wix' is stamped on the filter cannister. I think the lesser volume is an advantage, it reduces the time before full oil pressure is reached on a cold start. (And I spin it with compresssion released to get some oil pressure, too). That's just opinion, I'm sure others have other opinions.

I get them from my dealer by the case.. Last time I checked .. Dealer was cheaper than the wix.. Don't know if the wix is a better filter or not

I spoke to a Baldwin dealer today and he said a B1421 Baldwin will fit it OK. it has a 14 PSI bypass valve in it, in saying that what is the rough oil pressure of a 2TR-15?? as i can get the same filter with a 6 PSI or 18 PSI valved filter, just trying to work out what is going to be best.

The YM1500 came with Yanmar part # 124450-35100 which = Balwin B179. Yanmar changed the part# to 119660-35150 which = Balwin B227. This is on Balwin's cross chart. There are hundreds of filters that ( will fit ).

I have bought myself a couple of Baldwin B227 filters, they have a 20 PSI valve in them. the B179s that Danny was refering to are the same filter but only have a 8 PSI valve in them. the B1421 i had gotten earlier would fit also, same width and thread but longer in length and 14 PSI valve. Talk about a drama for a bloody oil filter!! Thanks to those whom had some input.
