Not being callous.
Just my thoughts as to what may be the cause. He may have been free wheeling down the incline and hit the brakes to slow down to cross the bridge, but did not have the pedals locked together and only caught the right one and this was the outcome.

Good guess. And why didnt he jump? Mighta thot the trailerld get him.... Well never know.

It is impossible to jump when you are in freefall, whether you are on a tractor, in an elevator or just falling off a cliff.

Now he could have jumped off while he was driving down the road if he had known ahead of time that the tractor was going to run off the bridge, but then the trailer probably would have got him.

From a sitting position on a mass you can jump by just standing up while letting go. Yes, it may not be obvious while falling and could be why he didnt. His fate is in the past tho, so the surmises and possibles only help us. We can be thankful for the vicarious boost.

I could debate that but it would probably accelerate as the infamous "Will it take off" thread did. Sorry for the off-topic post.
