Hello all,

After owning my TU150FD for 2 years now I finally stumbled across this forum which is outstanding.
I purchased the tractor to cut grass primarily and for a multitude of other projects requiring the loader, which makes me an occasional user.

It's been a bit of a struggle to maintain the tractor with no documentation or knowing anyone with an Iseki.

Can anyone tell me the approximate age of the TU series tractors?

Also, I've started the project of draining the gear oil from the front axle, actually it's been draining all night. All the info I've managed to collect from this forum as well as speaking with numerous people indicates that SAE 80W/90 weight gear oil is preferred. Or maybe 85W/140. My problem is that the gear oil that has drained out so far has the viscosity of molasses, looks like a thick pea soup.

Is my fear of adding the previously mentioned gear oil well founded? I've no doubt that this heavy weight oil is still coating every surface plus the "center housing" which has no drain plug.

An Iseki forum, who would have thought?

Thanks, Mark

Some dealers put Lucas in the front end to slow down fluid loss from worn seals. It works well. If you replace the fluid with 80/90wt and it starts leaking, you might want to go back with Lucas.

Great stuff. Thanks for the parts info - I'll add that in English to my Parts Manual which is in Japanese. It's nice to look at the pictures, though it would be more meaningful if I was a mechanic.

I've seen Lucas gear oil at Advance Auto Parts but I believe it was 80W90.

Thanks again and have a great day.

I think the Lucas product Kays Supply is talking about is Lucas Hub Oil, formulated especially for the leaking hubs of tractors, trailers, etc. The back panel says the following:

- Dry up most seal leaks
- Extend seal life
- Extend bearing life
- Require less add oil
- Allow hubs to run cooler and easier
- Allow hubs to operate on a marginal amount of oil in case of a blown seal or poor maintenance

"A perfect heavy duty / high performance gear oil for manual transmissions and differentials in cars and trucks."

It doesn't indicate what the viscosity rating is tho. I have two quart bottles of it that I ordered off the web. Haven't used them yet....

Thanks Lars,

I think I'll try to round up the same hub oil vs. flushing and replacing with a lighter weight gear oil.

I can't help but think there is about a half quart of whatever gear oil (in my case hub oil?) in the diff. case at the center of the axle. Or is there? There is no visible way to drain it.

If I remember correctly, you can jack up the tractor using the front bumper, and tilt the front axle far enough to get the oil out of the diff.
