Bought a Samsung washer and dryer at Lowe's for $950 back in Nov it's quiet and does an excellent job cleaning and drying the clothes .The electric consumption has gone down about $15 a month.

I work at an appliance store and I bought Fisher Paykel, also bought five year warranty.
We have had ours about 3 years and wife loves them. She likes it that the clothes are almost dry when they come out of the washer.

All brands have issues now days. We sell and service almost every thing.
Since Whirlpool bought almost everything out there their quality has gone to pot. It really angers me that Maytag isn't Maytag any more, just a rebadged Whirlpool.

The thing about the european models, such as Bosch or Miele, is that they have the experience. While front loads are relatively new to popularity here, they've been the dominant style in europe for years. This gives the european models a leg up over the NA manufacturers.

My 1950's Philco DuoMatic front loader all in one is made in the USA...

It's a full size washer and dryer in one machine... and the dryer is gas... the only downside is it has a standing pilot...

It's great not have to take the clothes out of the washer to put them in the dryer... just put the clothes in and the 1950's technology takes care of everything without circuit boards...

Maybe Ford did have a better idea?

We're very happy with our LG. what ever you get, make certain you can get service. We bought a Bosch from lowes, had troubles .The service guy said he was too busy and to bring the washer in to his shop! Are you %^&$ kidding.

That Philco is a interesting model. Check out the price though $389 in the 1950's ! Glad its still working. Something to be said for old school reliability (like the Maytag im currently using)

A few years ago, I ran into the opposite problem with a Maytag. It was easy to get it out, I had a pickup truck, dolly, ramps, etc. so I thought if I could take it in to a shop and leave it to be fixed, that would save me a service call, possibly two trips if, on the first trip, the technician didn't have the right parts. No such luck. I could not find a repair facility to which I could take it. They all wanted to send the technician to the house.

It should... it's as heavy as a separate washer and dryer ;-)

Lots of my neighbors are on their second or even third pair in the last 10 to 15 years...

I'm always being asked if I know anyone that could use and old Kenmore... When I ask what's wrong they tell me nothing... they just want to upgrade for water savings.... At a $1000+ that's a lot of water... especially for retired couples.
