I guess nostalgia is nice but I had a Fergie 30 and it doesn't bring back a lot of warm and fuzzy memories. Tough to steer, glass bulb for fuel was usually leaking, pan seat that could numb your rear after an hour or two. It did have a few good features but not enough that would want me to purchase one again.

I totally get the whole retro thing. A guy like me that had a $2500 Mustang or Camaro or Challenger when he was a kid now drools over a new $40,000+ modern version. One with modern features that is derived from the best styling of the vintage models. Ya, that makes sense. But a tractor? Maybe. Just not this butt ugly reincarnation of an 8N. The original looked way better IMHO. It is a classic, for sure. You can still buy them nicely restored for $3-4000. You can't do that with the old cars. Sorry, but this thing in no way reminds me of the good times I had as a kid driving my dad's 8N. Maybe they'll sell a few, but not to me. Just my .02c.

You mean I'm not the only one who things those things are ugly? (And that's a gross understatement.) I'll take an old '48 restored be Soundguy, any day of the week.

I agree about those new old cars, to an extent.
I'd love to have a new Shelby Cobra. Yet underneath that sharp exterior is just another car.
Back "intheday" some guys paid for wheels and tires, others paid for a nice paint job. Yet the REAL cars were owned by guys who knew what they were doing and built show cars out of junkers; and knew how to take an average engine and make it a champ.

I looked at one recently. My wife was waiting in the truck. When I got back in she said, the tractor was 'cute'. I thought it would look good in a parade.

I think they are pretty cool, just not $30K worth of cool.

I bet in a year or two some people will be able to grab them as leftovers for a fair price. Anyone know how many will be built? I would think they are a hard sell for dealers.

It's the "Madonna effect." You may not like it, but you sure talk about it. No matter what side of the coin you are on, New Holland has become the buzz for introducing this tractor. Heck, I'd love to have one of those seats on my tractor. It just looks comfy.

Oh yes...I'd bet that NH would say this is not a new 8N, but rather modeled after the 8N. It's an inspiration rather than a reincarnation.

Maybe you could buy a blue NH, paint it red and grey or put an old 8N hood on it.

I'd love to have one to park next to Granddad's '52. But if I got it, it would get used and used hard. The money saved to buy a different 50HP would buy too many other "toys".
