I gotta tell ya, I miss the big snow and the big trees of the north. It always seemed quiet and peaceful after it snowed like that. No cars, maybe a couple snowmobiles in the distance every now and then, but pretty much no noise at all.

And growing up, when the snow load got too much for comfort the old man would push all the snow off of the roof into a couple huge piles that us kids could jump into from the second story deck. Surprisingly he never ended up in one of those piles while cleaning a few feet off a snow covered, and pretty sure slippery, roof .

Darn it. Now I'm home sick.. Think I'll call Dad.

I was trying to find pictures of our little snow fall a couple years ago{no luck :(} we ended up with 48"+ in about 24hrs. We usually get slammed with atleast 1 good dump, but last year was not to bad.

we had a storm, one of the worst I can remember here in Colorado 10/27/97. Were I lived we had 68-70 inches and they reported up to 18 foot drifts. nobody went anywhere for about 3-4 days. because of the wind there would be bare spots and then big drifts, cars could not negotiate it but we rode horses the 2 miles into town we could ride around the really deep stuff, more for fun than really needing to. It was a very bad storm for the cattlemen. As the snow settled and melted it tore down lots of fencing and thousands of head of cattle were loose in the county.

Radioman, Thanks for asking, but I don't know yet, as the photo was from last year. I put the wheel weights back on yesterday. I'll likely put the plow on by week's end. I will report when the white stuff flies. It won't be long. :)

I put my chains on today, early I know, but I'm getting ready. Have some routine maintenance to do too. It's always a good pastime guessing what the winter will bring.
Dave.

66 degree, beautiful Indian Summer day. Planted 6 trees and put deer fencing around them. The deer here will chew bushes, trees, anything!!! in late winter.

Weights are back on the tractor as well as the snow plow today. Hard to do on such a gorgeous day, but these days will soon enough be over.
