Ive never seen a 1/4 inch impact... is there such a thing?

I've got a 14.4V 1/4" impact driver and love it. It has a 1/4" hex collet type chuck. It's great for driving deck screws and I have several 3/8" socket drives I use with it all the time. It is extremely handy to use with sockets. A real time saver over using a ratchet and produces enough torque ( a little over 100 ft/lb) to tighten and loosen a lot of nuts that you would be using a 3/8 drive on anyway. One of my favorite time saving tools.

I also have a 120v 1/2" impact ( rated 240ft/lbs torque) that I use far more than the pneumatic. It is pretty gutless compared to a Thundergun but it works pretty well on car lugs, mower blades and most things requiring nuts under 1".

Dave, if you have an air-compressor, most half inch impacts will have twice that amount of power or more. The one air impact I had that was rated that low was a Harbor Freight (Central Pneumatic) that I bought about 1980. And as a full time RVer for a few years, I carried an electric impact because the RVs had generators, but my little 2 gallon air compressor wouldn't run an impact wrench.

My compressor (Porter Cable from HD) is rated at 6 scfm @90psi, 4.5 gal tank, 150 psi. I'm not sure I really believe the 6 scfm. I bought it for framing/finish nailers, it will keep two framing nail guns going no problem, but I doubt it will drive higher cfm tools very well. It seems like once the tank is pulled down to the set pressure, the air flow rate is pretty wimpy. I guess I could add a larger tank in the line. Or buy wrenches with longer handles

I've got a 1/2 CH gun for my compressor (60 gallon 10.3 cfm at 90).

My brother also has air tools.

I purchased as a gift for him, he does a lot of work on small engined equipment and I figure the cordless will be great for when he's in the field. I figure should break free most of the stuff he'll run into.

Further, as a physical therapist by day he does his engine work at night, won't have to start up the compressor when the mini-bosses are asleep.

We'll see, for $99 tough to see how we can go wrong.

I use it all the time for auto work. I always been afraid the corldess won't generate enough torque and eventually the batteries need to be replaced.

I have a 3/8 a couple 1/2 and a 3/4 inch air plus a couple 1/2 inch electric impact wrenches, I can not imagine the application for a 1/4 inch Impact tool?

KennyV, Bird & Bobodu...you guy's are looking at this all wrong. A 1/4" impact is God's gift to the lazy...or those without much time left on this good earth and need to maximize their productivity with the time they have left
They don't come with a 1/4" square drive for sockets. They have a 1/4" hex drive chuck with a sliding collet lock. You can use it as a heavy duty drill/driver or ratchet. It'll drive 3" deck screws in oak like it's butter, you can use the hex shank bits and drill twice as fast through about anything or my favorite...get a 3/'8" drive adapter for sockets and use it in place of a ratchet or screw driver. Most of them will produce comparable torque to a quality 3/8' air ratchet but has variable speed that can spin about 10X faster. I promise, once you use one when doing assembly/disassembly of something that has lots of screws or nuts....you'll think God called you up and gave you this tool as your heavenly reward! For tight spots, I have one of those B&D ratchets that you can turn the handle to spin the socket or take the handle off and Voila...it has a 1/4" hex drive that fits the impact driver. Truly a tool that will make you want to throw away your 3/8 drive ratchet or Phillips screwdrivers when you re working on a project with lots of parts. I had seen them many times and never gave them a thought until I used a buddies and realized how powerful and versatile they are.
