Just bought an old mf 165 perkins diesel. Qusestion--where is the dipstick located to check the engine oil level.

I have an old 1964 MF-135 with the 3-cyl AD3.152 Perkins diesel (your 165 has 4 cyl Perkins AD4.203). The photo shows the oil dipstick near the oil filter (white)
The oil fill tube is attached to the gear drive unit for the high pressure fuel injection pump and is covered with that cap with the T-handle.
My guess is that your engine is similar.
