1948 John Deere M project

Thanks to my Father in Law's generosity I am now the proud owner of a 1948 M. This will be my first tractor project, so we will see how it goes. Coming from my wifes family is a bonus. When too many hrs are spent in the garage I can deflect the blame..

Those are great tractors. I spent many hours on one when I was a kid as that was the first tractor on our farm, replacing a team of horses back around 1950. It still runs good today and has not needed anything much more than a couple valve jobs over all those years.

Flusher- Got it running in about 30 min. couple of spark plugs and rinsed the gummy out of the fuel bowl and it fired right up. First time in 4-5yrs. Wiring is all but decayed so I am refraining from running it anymore until I get working on it. Missing one rear wheel weight and the seat back is not original. Other than that all is there including 2 bottom plow and full cultivater setup in the barn I got to dig out.

This was the second tractor on the farm when he was growing up. Replacing a John Deere BO. Wish that was still there.

Nice first tractor to work on. Small enough to fit in a garage, big enough to be fun and useful.
