2008 T2220
I was pushing back sumac with my T2220 and must have snagged a spear while backing up. AMAZED at how easy this broke, there is only a very small dent in the filter.

Gonna be expensive, lost all the oil, 123 bucks for the part and 30 for the filter.

Quite a job the tractor out because the field I was recovering requires climbing a steep clay soiled hill to get home. Took a 40 horse Bota and JD955 in tandem to get it out.

It was the final proof needed for me to know that my R4's were the way to go. I've hauled oak up over that same hill with no problem. The two turf tire equipped rigs pulling me could barely climb it on their own. Had to use 75' of chain so they were on the top before we could move mine.

Why do the MFG'ers leave this stuff hanging in the open? Do they not realize tractors don't run the interstate?\

Engineers, how many times have you wished you had the designer / engineer with you to ask them what in the world they were thinking when they decided on their design...makes you wonder..

I've been intending on making a guard to protect the FEL lines, guess I'll have to go back a bit further. This ranks right up there with the PTO safety switch harness that hangs low enough for goldenrod to unplug.

We'll see what my sales rep says after I sent him a pic of a Kubota and JD pulling me home!

How come we don't get to see that same picture? Probably don't want it thrown up in your face for years to come about how "JD" or 'bota had to pull you home, lol!
I like my JD a lot more than my Ford, but when the JD gets stuck, I pull it out with the Ford. Other than that, the Ford doesn't get used much.

Sorry to hear of the demise. Seems few if any of the CUT's have much protection in the woods. Some can be fitted with armor at a cost.

Now, send those pics to your Kubota and JD sales reps. :) Just teasing. :)

For the Industrial tires, I find they are fine on the lawn too. But the Ag tires still have more traction, but carry a lot of dirt and mud where the IR's don't.

I'd have to wonder if the NH will ever make it to the age of the 955. That thing is now on it's fourth hour meter. It's almost a 24/7 machine, my Dad uses it to earn income.

When the salesman (Ralph Turner of T&B in Bangor ME, he's the best!) told me it was every bit as good as my '70 JD140, I answered with "I'll let you know in 40 years."

Why do the MFG'ers leave this stuff hanging in the open?

I asked that question of Kioti, who sends a token few engineers to the
World AG Expo. No answer, but I suspect that the design engineer was
back in Korea.

That same thing happened to one of the CK30s I bought. It's also VERY
vulnerable underneath. Many owners will wait until they get damage before
they consider adding a skid plate.

(BTW, I have rescued my Kioti (R4 tires) with my JD955 (AGs) several times.)

If you want to push sumac, get under it with the bucket and PUSH IT, don't drive over it and then back up. This is operator failure, plain and simple. The hydro filter is well above the bottom of the oilpan, front axle, and bottom of the transmission housing. Put a full skidpan under your tractor, let it fill with leaves and debris, add spilled fuel and some hydraulic oil, your tractor will burn like a yule log. If any of these tractors were built to withstand the abuse they are sometimes asked to take, nobody would pay the price of admission.

I sometimes think the 4 wheel drive feature is one of the worst things that has been developed. It gives owners of these tractors a false sense of security and power. People develop an attitude their tractor is like a tank and indestructible because of the 4WD. I myself have to sometimes stop and think about a situation I'm getting into.

My local dealer stopped renting out the 4wd tractor with the brush hog. Every time it came back there was damage because people put it into situations it was never designed or he was called out to pull it out of a mud bog because people cannot fathom a 4wd tractor getting stuck and they pushed the envelope.

He said he never had these problems when renting out the 2wd Ford years ago.

Looking at this thing, and the fact it is under suction or low pressure, makes me think I could fix it with JB. I know, sounds cheesy, but I've had a lot of luck fixing this type of metal on dirtbike cases. "V" out the crack, degrease it, and add a good layer of JB.

Only thing that steers me away is the mechanical strength to stand up against vibration.

I hate to do this to a new tractor, but, I'm looking at a two week down time between work and Thanksgiving.
