I'm not dealing with acreage, although I 'm not excluding that in the future and that would consist of recreational wood lot with small house, big outbuilding.

Presently I own two urban properties with older houses and two vacant hillside lots. All properties are attached.Total about 1 acre. Three lots are hillside, total abt 400' frontage, 100' deep, 20/25' drop front to back, street on top.

Right of ways are involded, mostly in the back. I need to build-up back of lots with fill in order to reduce elevation. Need to excavate part of bank and build-up with structural fill. I want lots to accomodate small hillside houses (multi-level). The location of these properties is superb.

Because space is at a premium, there will need to strategic filling for access, drainage, and outdoor gardens. Retaining walls will most probably be involved, and i need a tractor that can travel up and down, with a backhoe that has decent reach.

Snow blowing or removal could become a seasonal thing Maybe about 20 driveways? I won't look into that until I have a CUT. I also have other excavating/filling to doaround my houses. Concrete mixing/ placing is an option that I would like to have. Forks would be useful.

Depending what the machine is usefull for, I would probably have occasional outside contracts.

I'm also looking at an L3130, la723 loader w quick detach bucket and Bh90. What do you think of that?

A BX is suitable for you. much easier to use. I wouldnt get a L since its so much bigger and its made for a large acreage. I think its time for you to stop in a kubota store and take a gander and sit in some of the tractors. The BX makes it nice to tow around. The L will require you to get a good sized trailer and good sized truck.

There is no such kubota model as a 3440.

The 3430 was a (30 series) and replaced by the (3540) 40 series.

The 3130 was replaced by the 3240

As mentioned the L3400 is a basic model kubota with many differences compared to the Grand L tractors.

radioman,

I'm not convinced that a BX will have the capacity that I need. I will be needing to move fill equivalent to hundreds of truck loads, uprooting decent size roots and stumps, needing FEL capacity much more than 500 lbs for boulders and retaining wall components. I have used a B2410, I believe, quite a while to move fill and although it was suitable for the job at hand I can't imagine using that for my current needs. It would just be too time consuming. I have hired contractors, in the past, to do jobs with compact or sub-compact equipment and some of the small equipment, although ideal for some jobs, may be quite undersized for others unless you really have all the time in the world to get it done. I just can't imagine tackling the side of that bank with a 6 foot reach and a 12" bucket. I may be wrong, but that's how I feel at the moment. A visit at the dealers yard is most certainly my next step.

marc2610d,

So if I understand correctly, you are saying that when they refer to the L30 series, it relates to the L3130, L3430, etc... and not the L3100, L3400, and so on. Now when they refer to the Grand L, are there digits that indicate that it is so?

If I understand you correctly, you will be doing a lot of earth moving(the definition of major or minor earth moving is relative).

The new house construction collapse has made conditions such that there are a lot of the small "pocket rocket" tractor/loader/backhoe units for sale that have a ton more lift and backhoe capacity than the standard compact tractors, and aren't that much bigger. Many have removeable backhoes. Kubota has/had the L35 L48 L45 and M59, but other makes have their own version. If you want something really small like that, Kubota has a Bsomething unit.

They are much better for moving dirt around(though worse for normal weekend activities). I thought long and hard about buying one, and that was when they were expensive.

I should note that I was looking at these(just out of regret) several months ago, and they may not be so available now.

Hi, I'm new to this site and looking to purchase a machine. My question is what is the basic difference between the l3400, l3410, l3430... and so on. Thanks. Charlie

The L3400 is a current model tractor. Its a base model tractor.

The L3010 is an older model tractor.

The L3430 is replaced by current L grand 40 series tractor. If you are wondering what I mean by grand series, they have more options than the base models such as the L3400. Kubota makes two lines of the L series tractors. All the tractors have have the last two numbers ending in 40 is a grand L. Any tractor with the las two numbers 00 is the base models.
