Tires 4x20 R1 Wheels & Tires

Has anybody bought a set of R1 wheels and tires for a 4520? I am really considering swapping my R4s.

I had a JD 3720 with R4s, sold it and bought a 4520 with R1s. Much more traction with the R1s. R4s just don't do well in mud or looser soil. Tractor will also sit a little taller with the R1s compared to R4s on the 4520. The only downside to R1s is the front tires will squish down with heavy loads on the FEL. I keep the tire psi up to the max. Have not rolled a tire off the rim but haven't had enough hours on the 4520 yet. Tire wear will also be faster with R1s, especially on the front.

If you swap the tires, try ordering them through sales rather than parts. It should be cheaper through sales.

I'll ask my sales guy, but I think I will hold out for some used ones or pull offs or something. Fortunately I have R1s on my 5525. Man, I am really wishing I had done R1s on this tractor.

R4s suck in the mud. Not that I have gotten stuck, but they ball up and I spend hours cleaning the mud off the tractor. Also, directional control can be an issue. R4s in wet black land soil - not a good choice.
