Years ago I use to use an old buffalo I don't know what the tonnage was but the flywheel was over 8' in diameter.

The notcher on the front would go through 1/2 by 8" deep and didn't even slow down.

I all ways wanted one and am envious of you guys.

You have the cadillac of ironworkers. I have a couple of questions for you. Does the metal distort when using the shear. Can you punch and shear aluminum.

The metal does not distort when shearing. I am pretty fussy about what I cut with it, (no hardened steel), and it cuts cleanly down to 22 ga. sheetmetal. I have even used it to cut cardboard! If you have dull blades, it will distort the edge. I use it for both steel and aluminum. Another handy feature I like is the angle iron shear, Greg

I ordered the Ironworker today. I did a little dickering and got them to throw in the punch set if I bought the 8" brake.

That will be a great Christmas present for you, Bill. I drooled over the
Scotchman (or equivalent) units for a while. I have paid for punching,
mostly of 1" holes in 1/2" A36 steel plate. You need 40T for that, and there
is some distortion of the holes. I was looking for a good used deal that
included lots of tools/dies. I eventually decided that I would not use
it enought to justify the cost or floor space in my limited workshop.

I bought mine from metal pro Welcome to Metalpro Corporation. They are the manufacturer. Northern tool sells them. If you have on in your area you could pick it up at the storeand save the shipping cost.. I talked to MetalPro today an it ships tomorrow. I should have it Mon. or Tues.
