My old true blue 2000 Rancher is getting hard to shift. It sometimes sticks between gears and has to be rocked to shift sometimes. I replaced the shift angle sensor last year and that helped a lot. Have any of you guys had shifting problems with the ESP transmission?

check the up/down buttons on the handlebars. Ive had the switches in there pack with dirt. Cleaning them out fixed it

Does the gear indicator blank out when you have problems?

could be water in the connectors for the angle sensor,.clean it out with contact cleaner and pack with dielectric grease.

Those were the places i had trouble on my ESP honda.

The gear indicator does blank out when I have problems. I have checked and cleaned the switches as you suggested. The angle sensor is dry and has never been wet. I thank you very much for your suggestions. Something seems to be growing weaker but I can't figure out what it is. The ESP seems to need a good boost to shift. It's missing something.

Battery fully charged? Mine acts up if my batt is weak and needs replacing.

Terminals on the battery clean?

At first glance id go with the angle sensor, but since you replaced it recently its less likely.

Does it happen at the end of a long, high speed run? or just around the house.

ES is a good system, but it has a tendency to have its share of electical gremlins.

I think theres a way to have the indicator flash trouble codes IIRC. But for the life of me i cant remember how to get the computer to do it.

I agree, a weak charged battery would be a good bet. It's a pretty easy thing to check before going any further.

Could be the battery. In the winter she just runs it about 10 minutes to put out hay for the horses. I'm sure 10 minutes isn't enough time to recharge the battery.
