Is there an adjustment to decrease the clearance between the augers and the housing?

It doesn't appear that I can adjust the auger shaft in any direction. I am getting a lot of build-up of packed snow in the housing. It seems like if the clearance was less, this wouldn't happen.

Maybe I can bolt some short bars like teeth along the outer edges of the augers.

I have two of these blowers. Don't believe any adjustment is possible. Funny though - I've used these blowers for a dozen years and have never had a problem. I run one on a 2210 and one on a 445. Both machines have more than enough power to work through the heaviest snow - and we get a lot of snow here. Many times it is wet and sticky - and deep to boot! I've never had a clogged blower or chute - not once. Sometimes the wet snow will cake up inside the blower by the time the job is finished, but it doesn't affect operation. I always clean it out before it goes back in the garage anyway - only takes a minute or two. Similar situation with yours or is it clogging up on you?

OBS:
Thanks for your response.
It sounds like my blower is performing similar to yours. We get a lot of snow here too, I'm on the south shore of Lake Ontario in the "lake effect" snow area.

Like you said, I always clean the snow from mine before parking it, and that's what prompted me to ask the question. I have never had the blower or chute clog up, but if the snow is heavy and wet, it packs against the sides and back. While scraping it out with a stick, I noticed how thick it was, and wondered if I could reduce it by adjusting the clearances.
(I admit, I was thinking about making the cleanup easier, not improving blower performance!:))

I'm still thinking about bolting a couple of narrow strips of bar stock along the outer edge of the augers which would pass closer to the back of the housing to reduce the amount of buildup.

Have you given any thought to an icephobic coating? That should keep the snow from sticking to the housing.

Here's a like to one supplier: Icephobic Coatings, Anti-Ice Coating And Paint From Ecological Coatings

I've tried a few different coatings over the years, most of them didn't work very well, or didn't last very long. I'm having good results with Fluid Film. Unless the snow is very wet, it doesn't stick at all, and when it does stick, it comes off easy. I usually only have to apply it once and it lasts all winter.
Interesting link, have you tried their products?

Atschirner, have you tried it? Don't no if it sell's in small spray-can. Interesting. Chipsndust, I give a coat of car wax on the inside of the auger to reduce snow built-up. It works, but have to do it a few time during the winter. Of course, you do need a heated garage to do the job.
