Welcome to the club. What part of the country are you in? I think there may be some other options that are worth considering.

Are you looking for the cut quality or the carrier's ability to transverse terrain?

Transverse Terrain. I have also looked at the Rayco T275 with plainer teeth. This machine looks like it will hold up better. But just not sure

Okay. When a GT25 is on her game that are hard to beat. In cut quality and production. But that comes at a price, literally and hourly. For every 6-8 hours of run time there is about 2 nam hours of maint. a day. If you can stick to this it will make you money. There are a few tricks in running them that will help you keep the machine together.
There are rubber tired machine's that have several advantage's as well and can be equipped with planier heads as well.
Then to really add to the mix have you ever seen an excavator run with a mulching head? They are by far the least maint. oriented but they have a few limitations.
I sent you a PM. And I'm personally not a fan of a T275, but please run everything and see what works best for you.

There is a new Kid on the block in that size!

It is the Bron 275.

we are a dealer in Northern Canada, and have sold a few of them already this year. The customers that have bought them have said that they are some of the best machines, not just mulchers, but machines they have ever owned. These are larger companies with 50+ pieces of current equipment.

PM me, and i can get you the dealer in your areas contact info.

and you should check them out on the website - RWF BRON :: The Power To Perform.

Those are and probably would be better suited for the terrain and weather up there. It doesn't work as we'll down here. We do well with a machine that is lighter on her feet. I know ground psi is probably low but out in the woods they disturb the ground way to much, almost loosing the mulching advantage by clumping material in huge piles.
I have looked over a customers Bron and like the engineering but the geometry for the head is work. We'll wrong for our head. For a carbide equipped head they seem good and the one's I have seen do well.
If you are just going by h.p. there are alot of options. Lamtrac, CMI, Risley, Versatrac, Fecon, Rayco, and some more that I haven't even heard of.
I'll put one of our heads on a smaller machine and outwork these setup's any day. I guess I should say I like the GT better for it has our technology on the front which gives it the advantage.:D
Again we are back to there is a tradeoff on EVERY machine, it's just what are willing to deal with or work on.

Robbie (or anybody),

I'm sticking back money to buy a mulcher one day. I'd pretty much settled on a compact track loader with a mulcher head. But the excavator idea is interesting. Anyway my question is; What is the smallest excavator that would make a suitable mulcher platform?
A skidsteer can be hauled on a trailer behind a pickup, but can the smaller
excavators handle a mulching head? And since I know squat about excavators, could I get actual model numbers? ie. CAT 311 etc.
I passed a pond the other day where someone had done a mulching job. The trees near the water were just pushed over into the pond, seems like an excavator would have been perfect for that job.
Thanks for any information.
