BX2750 snowblower won't lift

Here's a head scratcher?

2nd year with my BX2750 on BX24.

This year, after using it an hour or two (mostly on float), it refuses to lift. I had the dealer stop by to check it out and he swapped the hyd cylinder and all was well in the garage. But after using it for an hour or two today, same thing, wouldn't lift. The dealer told me he took the old cylinder apart and found it full of air (not fluid) and recommended I lift and drop a few times, avoiding float to bleed out the system

Also, with the blower removed from the quick hitch, the NEW or OLD cylinder wouldn't budge - no movement but you could hear the engine strain as it tried to move. After we reinstalled the blower, it worked as a test in the garage but stopped working again today clearing the 24" of fresh snow we had overnight.

It was locked up solid, the only way to lift the blower was to remove the hyd lines, push in the center and bleed out the air. The fluid was full of tiny air bubbles. 3PT works fine.

The relief valve started screaming this summer, even when lifting the mmm, and still screams.

1.You most likely have a crushed hose and do not realise it. one of the hoses may have a collapsed inner hose affecting oil flow or the hose was improperly asembled and collapsed

2.You are sucking air somewhere in the circuit and will be low on oil.
do not asssume the oil is full when you pull the dip stick as the hydraulic system has created a vacuum while operating and you need to check the oil level a whlie later after the vacuum is broken.

3. The relief valve may be broken or stuck open with debris.

4. clogged oil filter.

foamed oil sounds like air. Either you are low on HST oil or you have a loos fitting some where. after not using the tractor for almost 24 hours, check the HST oil level. if all is well, then you need to go through all the hydraulic connectors and check tightness.

I say its something simple...My money is on a bad QD (quick disconnect) Didn't the ones Kubota uses (Safeway?) have a history of bad O-rings in them?

Good guess. First thing we did was swap out the QDs from the FEL to the blower.

I'm going to try moving both hoses to the other two hyd positions and try it again in the am.

Ok the answer is (drum roll) confusing. The dealer had me move the hoses from the quick hitch to the top (white) and bottom (yellow) positions of the 4-way connector.

I had been using the bottom two connectors (marked red and yellow) all last year and until now. This is the way they were initially attached when they installed the unit and worked fine until this year.

So I was wrong and now have been corrected. Thanks for all the help - it's usually the simple things that take the longest to figure out.

btw I now have a digital photo of the correct attachment.

I was going to suggest maybe the hoses were crossed somewhere. When I put together my hydraulic blade last fall, I had similar issues until I realized the 2 BX FEL circuits are set up with one being the two outside male QDs and the other the two inside QD's. When you cross them, the cylinder tends to move in one direction, then get stuck there. At least that's what I experienced until I traced the FEL hoses and figured out what was where.
