This is generally how they're set up but the actual mounting will depend on how the manufacturer has configured the internal buss bars or wiring.

Thanks again everyone for your input.

Steve C. it sounds like the same welder. My welder has a lever to adjust the amps and a lever to lock the the amp lever from moving.
My welder is rusty bad, i cant find no model number or serial number. All i can read is whats on the alum. plate that is the front panel. Which says 100% duty cycle. I like to go your route, a 250 amp 100% duty cycle sounds a bit steep to me. From what i read from what people has written me. I want to get the right diodes. Thanks again for the reply. When you get back to your 250 amp ac dc welder. Please let me know what info. i need.
Thanks again everone for their info.

..... This is a picture of my wards AC machine. If you look at the amp scale next to the slide control you can see a line at the 130/140 range. Everything above that line is 100% duty cycle, everything below that range is something less. For my use it is indeed a 100% duty cycle welder because I don't use any rods that require me to go beyond those ranges but at 250 amps on my AC/DC and 295 amps on my AC machines they are not 100% duty cycle welders. But they sure would be worth fixing if they needed it. They weld very good.:cool:
.....

I have the same welder. I love this thing. However, I wish mine was also DC

I bought my Montgomery Wards 250 Amp AC/DC welder used about 35 years ago. It came with 75 foot long welding cables along with the standard 12-15 foot cabels. I paid $125 for it. It is the best money I have ever spent on a tool.:cool::cool:

I found some numbers on the top far right on the front plate. which are
711-112-000 Does these numbers sound like a model number of the powr-kraft 250 ac/dc welder? If any one has a parts manual of this welder. I need the parts number or size of the the dc diodes. Thanks again all who being giving me info.

I checked the parts we use at work yesterday all the 250 amp stuff had 3/4" threads and was about 2" in diameter and 6-7" long and cost about $250.00 each from the oem (might be cheaper from electronic supply house)
Before I spent that much (250 X 4) I'd consider buying a new welder.

If you have the part numbers, good sources for parts are either DigiKey or Newark Electronics. They have full product lines and can likely help you cross your parts to something affordable. I did broadcast electronics for several years, and those diodes can be much larger than what you're dealing with in your welders.

Thanks Tommu56 for looking. But thats alittle steep for me. Plus its alot bigger than what i need. My diode is around 1 - 1/8 inch dia. and around 5-1/4 inchs in length.
I would like to get the welder fix. Its has been a good one. It belonged to my dad. We welded 10 and 12 hours straight with it building a 57 foot shrimp boad with 100 foot leads on it. I dont know of any new hot box will do that.
I want to thank everyone for there input they have giving me.
I called a welding shop. He told me he couldn't and wouldn't do anything to it without a part number.
If anybody can help me find the part number of the two dc diodes and two ac diodes. I would be greatly thankful.
