I always thought if I ever get driving job I would make my dog the driver's helper. What's the company policy on that? Enjoying the pictures, as always.

Good Evenin Prokop,
I have seen some of the guys at the terminal with their dogs riding shotgun, sunglasses and red bandanna ! :D

If I did have a dog, I think my boss would go for it, although the dog and I would probablly argue about the sandwiches durring the course of the day ! ;)

Hey scotty,
Just make sure you always hear that whistle, My oil guy, Paul who's also a friend, he took over his small, 3 truck family's company about 25 years ago. He's a good guy real old school, does all the service work himself.

Anyway he told me about a driver for another company that went to make a delivery and started filling the "tank" only problem was, there was no tank  they had converted to gas and never removed the filler. Don't know if this was first hand storey or just urban legend designed to put the fear of God into the drivers.
He said it's a law the fillers have to be removed, don't now how much he dumped in there but man it must of been a mess. Guess he realized there was no whistle, must be something wrong!

Price is decent this winter, I've got three 275's (the guy I bought the house from horded everything) I try and market time the price, buy in the summer etc. well that strategy hasn't panned out to well for the last few years :(
Good thing I'm not an investment banker, though their performance hasn't been much better I guess :)

JB.

Good Evenin John,
I have filled some tanks that had a poor whistle or worse yet, no whistle at all... but you at least have to hear air escaping from the vent tube along with some fuel oil smell or your askling for trouble ! No vent with air escaping and Im not filling it period ! The only exception is an inground tank, then I use a deep fill appliance with its own devoted whistle, many of our wealthy customers have large inground tanks to heat their mc'mansions !

Along with our cold weather the fuel prices have been ramping up the last few weeks, along with demand ! :( Thats business as usual ! ;)

Tommorrow I get to go to Groton and transport some bulk dyed kero, nice long ride and hopefully some good music along the way, and I can only hope that the DOT isnt out and the weigh station is closed ! ;):)

BTW the last two pics are from the Old Saybrook, Ct area, very nice piece of shoreline ! :)

Good Evenin Low Bucket,
Actually I drive both, but my main delivery truck is a 6 wheeler, easier to manuever in tight spaces...

Im in Ct doing this job, Im only a part time Vt guy ! ;)

Dorset is only about 20 mins south of my Vt place...

Im tryin to stay away from any more diesel showers ! :)

Here are a couple from today, and when I see a nice barn I usually snap that too ;)

Scott_VT,

Nice pictures!- I really liked the picture of the nice barn.- It looks real cold there, and I just noticed your avatar with all the snow piled up.:D

Hope you don't get anymore diesel showers.- Stay safe on the road and keep warm!

Im tryin to stay warm, believe me ! ;)

Good Evenin Rox,
Glad your back on and getting a well deserved break ! Im sure your harvest was excellent as usual !

A couple of not so good cab shots from the Groton, Ct area and the Thames river, but they put these stupid fences up so people wont jump off the bridge, and it makes picture taking difficult on the fly !

Was hoping for som submarine pics, but not to be ! :(

One shot, if you look close, you can see the Coast Guard training vessel over on the west side of the Thames river...

scott-vt,
Enjoyed reading this post soooo much! Back in my earlier days I use to do home oil. Boy! have you brought back some old memories;) The oil baths, the lawnmines , those lovily smells:mad: and there always was the paths to the fill pipes that seem to be done by the sweet old ladies who had on buisness being out there shoveling. I do miss a lot of the customers,so many of them always had a smile when they met you at the door.
But that was so many year ago and it just didn't keep me busy enough in the winter, so I gave it all up for something that would fill my time,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I now PLOW SNOW for the state !!:D The 2 pay peroids of this winter have had 232 hours ( straight and overtime)
Boy, how dumb was I ?
Thanks for the stories and the pictures.
