Tractor
NH TC29D, 640 Ford, G1800-S, Grasshopper, Jacbosen
I have been looking for a tractor of a bit and ran across this one today,
wondering if the price is right.
TC33 2001 with 1090 hours tractor has been used but not abused.
Hydo. trans, FEL, super steer (or whatever it s called) 2 remote's
a light 6' rear blade, a 72" finish mower,
tires on the back are fair but front not that good
the hood looks like its been replaced as the color is a different shade of blue
and a little bit of paint bubbling on it.
bucket has the bolt on blade and it has one side worn pretty good the other side not used yet. small weld on one side of the bucket.
round hole in top of the back seat about the of a nickle. (new seat about $300 i think)
owner moving out of area and will only have a small yard in texas.
thinks its worth about 12,500
any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm guessing the FEL is the NH 7308, right? A NH loader will mean the whole tractor is worth a little more. I think with the finish mower and blade, your $12,500 is an acceptable price, especially with the two remotes. But always try to make your best deal. Offering a bit less to "test the water" is always a good choice from the buyer's standpoint. Be sure to check the battery area, radiator, and HST cooler on these tractors. Some of them had some problems with hoses deteriorating and leaking fluid. Checking the battery and battery shelf on any used tractor is a must, it doesn't matter if it is NH, JD, or Kubota. Also, if you replace the front tires, be sure to replace them with the same type tire as the rear and the exact same size. With MFWD, that's important.

If you are seeing paint bubbling on the hood, there's a good chance that the hood has not been replaced, but rather just painted. Raise the hood and look at it from the bottom. If it has a service interval decal on the bottom, it's probably the original hood. If it is missing that decal, it may be a replacement hood as you stated.

Make sure the supersteer works properly at both limits and that all things such as PTO engagement, MFWD engagement, and clutch all seem to work properly. For the easiest engagement/disengagement of MFWD, raise the front tires with the bucket. Also, remember that you can put a cover on that seat for a lot less than $300, so I don't think thats a big thing.

Oh yes! Welcome to TBN. We hope you will return and not be just a 1-poster. We like pictures of both new and used tractors also.:)

thank you for the reply.
I think im gonna go get it this afternoon, unless theres something wrong with it.
my son-in-law has a tc33da with same loader he bought new and only has 380 hours on his. so he gave me some pointers as to what he thought.
He didn't get the supersteer on his.. concerned about tipping.
and he doesn't have the 2nd remote. but his has always been inside and looks
like a new tractor.
only regret he has was he would like a cab in the winter!

thanks again.

i have a sign business so i can redo the decals on the hood.

Well, the tractor turns out to be a TC29D and i don't know how to find out what year it is.. So how much difference would there be in price? I don't think
the difference in HP will matter much for my use. but just curious what difference in price would i looked them up on tractorhouse.com and there was only $500 difference when new.
thanks. he will only come down $300 to 12,200

Well, the tractor turns out to be a TC29D...

Did he advertise it as a TC33D? If so, why? There are decals on the engine side panels which indicate what model it is. Are you sure it's a 'D' model, i.e., does it have a swivel seat and folding ROPS? Falsifying something this simple (33D vs 29D) would start that bad feeling about the deal for me.

The tractor was not advertized, i saw it and inquired.
the side panels only decals were just a couple of the letters left from New Holland no others marking to say the size.
The tractor was on a dealer lot and had been put there a day or so before a local snow storm on xmas day. then we got 2 storms with 10" then 6" so there was quite a bit of snow on and around the tractor. I stopped by and ask about it, they were selling it for a customer who was moving.
it has a swivel seat and folding ROP everything SS steering, Center PTO, 2 sets of hyd valve outlets, the hood had been replace cause something came out of the bucket and broke the original.
The dealer had sold the tractor new and knew the history of the tractor and the customer.
I know he didn't mislead me, I just think we both failed to look at the plate under the tractor due to the weather.
The salesman said 33DA but its a 29D on the plate and in the operator manual that came with it.
I worked as a Salesman and Parts manager for a Ford NH dealership for 25 years in my previous life,72-98, prior to boomer series)( so i will wait until i visit with the salesman before
i make any judgements. I am sure they will do me right.
meanwhile do you think they will be much difference in the operation between the 33d and the 29d i have a 640 that ive been using for years so thats my tractor of replacement.

COOL forum and lots of information on here!

Thanks

Not knowing what the situation is and what may have been done with a hood swap, I'd say the tractor could be a 29D or 33D with a hood off a 29D. The best way to tell is to look at the plate on the running gear down under the left side of the operator platform. it should be about 2"x3" aluminum plate with the tractor's type, serial number, and such on the plate. You will need a serial number to really ID the date the tractor was built.

There's not a lot of difference between the TC29D and TC33D, but they do have different engines. The TC29D engine appears to be the same as the TC25D with different injector pump adjustments. The TC33D is a physically larger engine, but they are all on the same NH Class II chassis and part of the same group of similar sized tractors.

As MikePA says, if the tractor was advertised as a TC33D and then you found out it is not, I'd be very cautious. If someone told you that they thought it was a TC33D and then you discovered when you went to look at it that it was not, that's certainly different. If you like the tractor and think it will do the job, $12,200 would not be a deal breaker for me. However, you want to be sure everything is as it is represented and someone is not just trying to dump a troublesome tractor with a bogus story. Don't be overly cautious, but do be smart about your purchase. $12,200 is too much to blow on a basket-case tractor.

Oh yes, the engine type should be on a plate on or near the injector pump on the right side of the engine. If any of the ID plates have been removed, run away as fast as you can go.

Sounds like you are a smart buyer to me. Just be sure and do what you feel is best. That tractor will certainly be an upgrade to your 640. After owning a 1954 NAA, I bought my TC45D. It was like going from being a laborer to being an executive.:) These new HST tractors will really spoil you.

Good, i like being and executive!
Used it today to move a little snow, just so i could play some
rearranged some trailers and stuff(junk) around the lot just so
we could get a feel of it.
I see lots of things i would like to make for it already.
like something to put on the bucket that you could pick up the front of a trailer
to move around in the yard like a pin that you don't have to get off and on the tractor to hook.
