I am getting my new cab 4520 in Feb. I ordered it with the speaker kit but not the radio. I have a cd/dvd/blue tooth radio to install in it. Is the adapter plug I need a plug from volkswagon part #vw01b? Do I need some special adapter kit to install the radio? I have never seen how much room is up there. What size are the factory speakers? I am thinking about changing them out while I have it apart. Is there any room up there in the header to add additional speakers, amp, woofer, etc? Before anyone says anything about the DVD player this is a stero made by Oygen audio that a friend of mine is a dealer for. He had this display unit that he sold me at below cost, cheaper than I could buy anything else with half of the options. With the big LCD screen I can see the numbers well and is equiped so I can hook up a back up camera. Thanks for the advise.

I'm just curious how you intend to use the backup camera?

I doubt I use the back up camera option. It is just one of the features on the stereo. I have plugs where I can hook it up to a bigger monitor. I have thought about hooking it up on a switch and putting the bigger monitior on the back side of the sunvisor. This would be handy for me brush hogging because I have bulging disks in my neck and looking around behind me really kills my neck. Just a thought. This will be the nicest and last tractor I will own so I might as well pimp it out. While I am at it I am thinking about a way to put plugs on so I can connect external speakers for when I am working outside and want to listen to the stereo. The speakers would be removeable, maybe attach with quick connects. Crazy I know!

Is the radio you are installing a single DIN unit? If so, you will have no problem with the installation. There is no special adapter kit needed. If it is a Dual DIN, I believe there will be problems (not enough room). The adapter plug you mentioned is the correct one. I have attached some pics of my recent radio install. Sorry, but the pics are after the installation was complete, not as I was installing.

It looks like it is the same size as yours so I guess it is a single din. How do you like your blue tooth? Have you used it yet? Thanks for the pics and the info. :D

I like the Bluetooth feature on my radio because I downloaded Slacker Radio (Free, no need to purchase satellite radio) on my BlackBerry Storm and I can stream that or other MP3 music files with no wires. I use the BT feature to stream music from my phone every time I operate the tractor. The phone feature is ok but I have to idle the tractor to keep the background noise from interfering with the built-in mic during conversations. You mentioned a big LCD screen in your first post and the ones that I have seen are all Dual DIN. Do you have pictures of the radio or a website that it can be viewed at?

No pictures yet. The screen is not very big, maybe 2x3". I was looking at maybe putting in a bigger LCD for a rear view camera when brushhogging. While you had yours apart did it look like you had enough room to put in two more speakers? I just want to get everything done while I have it apart. Thanks for the infor.

xrjohndeere,

Did you order the outside mirrors on your cab? Might be just as effective.

I don't believe I did. But that might be a good option to look into. Do you have them on yours and are they helpful? I have had tractors with mirrors in the past but they didn't do much good because of the vibration I couldn't see anything.

No I did not but the 4720 cab at the dealership I looked at did have them. They might be helpful to you, I did not experience any vibration problems when I tested it but don't think a camera would be any less susceptible to vibrations either. With the camera and screen you have two pieces to shake whereas the mirror has only one.
