Just thought I pass this along if you need a generator.
I was in the Home Depot in Bastrop Texas eariler today and they had a teriffic in store sale on three of their generators I did not ask if this was limited to just this store.

Generac 5500 for $299. (reg $699.)
Husky 5000 for $299. (reg $699.)
Generac 7000 for $499.

I'll say...my knockoff generator was more than that

They are new in un-oppened boxes! I was looking for a catch also but it looks like one of those good deals you always hope you run across. I had sold my 5500 generator ($500) to a hurricane victim last year to get a quieter Honda but at this price I'll use ear plugs!

I think Home Depot is clearing out old inventory that is no longer current models. The local HD here has a bunch of tools reduced. The one I remember was a Milwakee 1" rotary hammer that was $300 reduced to $150.

We did buy a couple 18 volt DeWalt drills for $69 each. They came with two batteries so that was why we bought them as we have a ton of 18v DeWalt tools and always need batteries. The regular price of just the two pack of batteries is $99 so it was worth it.

Sometimes Home Depot has GREAT deals. I got one today. I am adding on a room to my son's house and I needed a back door. They have a steel 9 lite door for $184 that I was thinking of getting but then I looked at a fiberglass 9 lite door that was more energy efficient and I thought that I might buy it if it was just a little more since the fiberglass doors are always higher than the steel doors.

There was no price on it but it had a sticker that said "special purchase". I loaded it on the cart and went to the checkout and it rang up for $59.

They had 2 more of them in stock. I almost turned around and bought both of them just to have for spares at that price.

we were at our local HD looking for knobs for some new cabinets i put in.

got sucked into the tools set out on discount.

i generally dont like having 6 diffrent kinds of cordless tools because i dont want to have to keep up with having 6 diffrent kinds of batteries charged in order to use them. But the cordless rigid angle drill-driver was at a price almost to good to pass up.

It's Home Depot! I consider those knock offs :)

Of course that's compared to Honda which is probably the gold standard.

But still, that's an incredible price, even if you got just a couple of uses out of it, like a construction project (would cost less than coffee and donuts for the workers) or a power failure, the food you'd save in the fridge would be worth it.

Really makes the used ones worth very little, dollar wise.

I checked my local home depot and they have the GP7000E for $500 and the GP5500 for $599. Also have the HUsky for $597. I am not sure why the 7000 is the cheapest?

The 7000 has the OHVI industrial motor by generac which is supposed to "last 3X longer" according to their web site and it has a full pressure lubrication system with spin-on filter. Looks like a great deal. Shopping around on the net these are listed commonly for over $1000.00. I did not pull the trigger though. I still may, I want a quality unit and had my mind set on a Yamaha or Honda. I dont want to buy and then still be looking for something better.

I still cant figure out why the 5500 is more money either? It does not have their best motor or pressure lube system.
