240D vs. 5' Tiller?

Would my 240D handle a 5' tiller? My grandpa has a 5' tiller that I could borrow anytime I needed it, but I want to make sure that it wouldn't be too much for my tractor. I wouldn't be using it to do acres upon acres, it would be for maybe a 30' by 100' garden. Also, what kind of rpm range would something like that need to be ran in? I see the red mark around 2200 rpm and figured it was for implement usage, but just wanted to clear things up before I started tearing things up.
In addition to the tiller, what size of box blade and rotary mower can this size of tractor handle? I was thinking 5' would be max on those as well, but once again, I don't want to tear anything up by trial and error. My rear tires are not loaded if that helps with any decision making.

Just do it. A free tiller is too much to pass up!

A 5 ft tiller (RS1400) was sold with the Japanese version of that tractor, but intended primarily for rice paddy muck. The Japanese tillers have more of a flail, slicing action using lighter tines, compared to the American tillers.

Many posters here (including me) use a Yanmar RS1400 tiller with a YM240 or it's Japanese twin, YM2000, on typical tillable but not mucky garden soil. Your American tiller will load the tractor more than a rice paddy tiller but it won't hurt anything, just make a couple of passes at increasing depth.

That tic at 2200 engine rpm on the tachometer means 540 rpm out the PTO shaft to the tiller, which is the standard speed for implements. Don't use the optional 1000 rpm position you will find on the pto shifter.

A 4 ft rotary mower is all that tractor wants in heavy grass. The dealers on here recommend nothing larger. For the box blade I use 5 ft which is probably the limit.

So, where does a guy pick up a RS1400 tiller? There aren't too many Grey Market dealers around my area, will I have to go to Texas or something?

I agree with Californias' sizing for your mower and BB. I have a YM2002D which is a 3 cylinder with same HP rating as yours. I have a RS1300 tiller which is actually 51.181 inches. The RS1400 is 55.118 inches. It's milimeters to inches. The RS1300 is all my Yanmar needs. I do sometimes run it in the 1000 rpm range after the ground is loosened up. Not at full throttle. It will do a heck of a job pulverizing the loose ground.
