I am leaving Sunday for a 5 day trip to Israel with a team of engineers from the big green tractor company to work on their new cotton harvester. My company supplies a product used in the packaging part of the application and I have been invited down to see it run first hand.

(Sorry I can't say more but we have a NDA in place)

Anyway, as part of the trip we are taking a day and a half to tour Nazareth and Jerusalem. I am taking my digital camera and 2 - 2 gig memory cards so I can take tons of pix.

I will get to walk where Jesus walked!

I am excited to go but just a tad apprehensive about the travel and the locale, if so inclined please say a prayer for me to get there and back safely. I am flying into Frankfurt, Germany and on to Tel Aviv from there, almost 14 hours of flight time with a 4 hour layover in Frankfurt.

The kicker is that I get back home on the 5th and then leave the next day for a week long sales meeting in Orlando. I know, tuff gig but somebody's gotta do it! :)

Has anyone here been to Israel? I am open for any travel tips, etc.

TIA

That would be an awesome trip, some of the oldest, controversial history in the world..

Haven't been there, but I would suspect food and water may be an issue and don't look "touresty"..LOL

Last year I somehow surfed into a website about F16s. Yes a whole website about F16s. :D Lots of pilots, ground crew, and engineers on the site.

They had a thread about women fighter pilots which morphed into photos of women fighter pilots. All clean. :D But that morphed into photos of Israeli women soldiers.:D

I don't know if it is the diet. The air. Being close to the sea or the desert but there were some very nice looking women soldiers over there. :D:D:D:D If I was younger I might emigrate. :D:D:D:D

There was a story about a guy who was over in Israel for a business trip which sounded defense related. He was out by the pool one day and there were Israel soldiers walking around with M16s providing security. One of which was a women. She apparently had a break, went to the pool, stripped off her uniform under which she was wearing a bikini, and laid down on a lounger to get some sun.:D Left the M16 withing reach right next to the lounger.:D

Have fun and enjoy the sights. :D

Later,
Dan

My wife and I, her sister and husband are going to Egypt in May for 10 days and hoping to get over to Jordan and Israel. We have a four day cruise booked on the Nile and I want to see the Suez canal as well. My wife met a couple that is living over there for a year and offered us a place to stay. He works for one of the drilling companies and is on a one year contract.

My aunt went, but never got off the plane when it landed in Israel because the Six day war broke out.

Have a former pastor who has been a couple of times and enjoyed his trips very much.

Several members of our church have been over the last few years. Our pastor's son is part of the Power Team (who break bricks, bend rebar, etc and give a message to youth), and they had been invited over to perform. They all said that the tourist areas of Israel are much safer than being at home in the US. Food is wonderful and no need to worry. It is not like being in a third world country.

I went to Israel for work a few years ago. I was there a few weeks, so I made the rounds... Old City Jerusalem is a really neat place. Be sure you know how to barter.;)

The Tel Aviv falafel/hummus stands totally ruined me on any hummus available in the States... just doesn't compare. I'd risk going back just for the food.

Have fun, and keep safe!

Thanks for all the prayers! I am back in the states after a wonderful trip to Nazareth and Jerusalem. I even made some new friends.
