Quick Attach for L3400

When I bought my tractor I opted not to go with the QA for the loader to keep the costs down. I instead opted for the clamp-on bucket forks. They work reasonably well for what I need to do but at some point I plan on upgrading to the quick attach.

Can someone tell me if my current bucket will fit the QA or do I need to buy a new bucket? Kubota literature isn't quite clear on this. What does the QA and fork attachment generally run?

Don't know anything about cost. Your bucket or any bucket will work after a SSQA adapter plate is welded/attached to the back of the bucket. I guess you are talking about the SSQA and not Kubotas QA.

Unless I'm mistaken SS = "skid steer" or Bobcat type "QA" (quick attach). Search TBN and you'll find many threads on fabbing them- I'm in the process of consdering it myself for my Kubota B7500 LA272 FEL.

Kubota has what they call a quick attach on the B3200 which is easy pull out pins/rings and then drop bucket off. Only Kubota stuff or something made for this QA system will work. They also have a quick attach on the L3240HST which is the skid steer quick attach. The SSQA is a pull up 2 handles and lean the bucket forward and your loose. To reattach, you drive up to "whatever" tilt arm, catch under lower part of the "whatever" lean arms back and then get off and push the two handles back down to lock and then take off. Have the Kubota QA (B3200) now and had the SSQA last year. The QA they have now (not SSQA) is better than the old one where you had to drive pins out to release bucket (on B7800) and then try to get the bucket lined back up to drive them back in. I know, you (someone) has a B7800 and they have no trouble unhooking and reattaching the bucket but call me weak or uncoordinated but it was "Pure ****" for me to get the bucket reattached by myself on the B7800. May be the real reason I traded the B7800 to the L3240HST.

Do you have a welder, or access to one? My father and I cut off the "ears" on my bucket and welded on a Q/A plate 2 years ago. I paid $170.00 for the Q/A, but I was lucky to have the dealer sell me the quick attach at his cost for a referral that led to a new tractor sale for him. I think I paid $225 for the adapter.

It took about 6 hrs to complete the project, using a 4 1/2" angle grinder and a demolishion saw with a metal blade on it. A lot of prying with a bar too. The factory bucket is welded very well.

I now have a set of forks... $575.00 for 2500# capacity, and a home-made 6' snowplow. It's literally a 30 second job to switch between attacments.


It was definitely a worthwhile project. I love the forks. I used to have a set of home-made clamp on type forks, and the q/a are much better.

Now my uncle, who is an excavating contractor is borrowing my forks for his new skid steer. I never would have thought I'd be lending him tools.

Most of the sellers down here offer the SSQA or pinned option. The used L4400 I am looking at is pinned. I would certainly prefer the SSQA. I believe it is a $340.00 adder on a new rig over pinned.

My dealer was clueless when I asked about it. Yup, it would have been cheaper, even for me to do. When I referred a friend to the dealership 1yr later, he bought the L3400 with the SSQA. He also got the 66" bucket too, instead of the 60" that came on mine.

I didn't want to cut up my bucket so I made these pin adapters to weld to the QA plates. Did I lose lift capacity because of the extended bucket? Probably, but nothing I can notice.
