HST over Geared tractor

Well you have to have enough intelligence to select the right tractor today.
If you look hard enough you can find a tractor without improvements which could be very much like your selections.

I am quite happy with improved tractors but your welcome to buy what you want.

So.. lets see.. people that don't buy tractors with upgraded trannies are now stupid ( don't have enough intelegence )and are making the 'wrong' choice, as per your comment???

By the way.. you don't have to look 'hard' to find a tractor with a crashbox. that statement alone shows that you don't get out and handle alot of machines on a daily basis....

Not to be picky here, but I think you may have a misspelled word above. I went ahead and fixed it for you. There, see, doesn't that look better now?

I'll be the first to admit, I bought an HST tractor because I thought that I would end up burning up the clutch. Too much close in work in the woods and on the hills.

A man's got to know his limitations.:D

Of course, we gear tranny guys are confident in our dexterity, hand/eye/foot coordination and intelligence, so we don't need no nanny state hydro transmission...but occasionally, we do need spell check!
But it is manly of you to admit you don't have the dexterity, hand/eye/foot coordination and intelligence to operate a gear transmission...very brave on the internet and you should make it part of your signature!

****, Soundguy probably did his post after a few belts...he's been doing those typos for at least 10 years...(no offense, Soundguy!!!)

I know that "feeling" all too well and for me, I feel safer with an HST. My father in law died of a heart attack while driving this tractor and we just can't stand the thought of selling or trading it, so I will keep using it and dealing with the high "pucker factor".

I know how you feel I have a hard time getting rid of old iron even if it does not have sentimental attachments. I had a IH424 that I liked a lot about but it had a few to many marks in the unacceptable column (brakes, not power steering, and gas engine). If it had good brakes and the capability to keep good brakes on it I would have lived with the other discrepancies. I even built a ROPS for it to be safe.

I have one crashbox tranny now and it is a good tractor (JD820) but I don't need three of them. I pick the jobs it is suited for and use it and really like to use it in good weather. Some jobs the hydros (110, 4520) are better suited for and I can discern the difference.

I grew up with alot of the old iron and still like it today, most of the stuff was and is bullet proof. I don't expect the manufacturers to provide the parts to keep the new stuff running near as long as in the past. I expect as Roy does that the electronics will be difficult to get. I recognize that this is the way of the world and have to live beyond it. While I am still above ground I intend to have the best of both worlds. I may have to be open minded to do that.

That's it.. I'm outta this thread..

Down to spelling picking?

I type on a netbook with micro keyboard and 8" screen.. and I DO NOT go back and waste time to spell check. If it can be parsed by an average audience, I let it post.
