I just purchased a Ford Jubilee at auction with Plans to completely restore it.
Pd $1800.00 and it runs good. Has 12 volt system. Gas Burner. My first question is about leaded vs unleaded gas. Will burning unleaded gas hurt the engine and do I have any alternatives?

We use unleaded and put an additive in our 54 and 56 Fords and have done so for many years.

The lead is there to help with the valves, burning unleaded may burn them out? I used the lead additive some when I had old machines. I also used 2 stroke engine oil mixed at a small amount liked that better.

I believe those older Fords have hardened valve seats so the cushion effect from the lead (or lack of it) shouldn't be an issue. I know my 1950 8N has hardened seats.

Engines that run at higher RPM 3,500 or better are recommended to use the additives. Lower RPM does not require it as wear was not noticable in the testing done. Could it make a difference, probably but not enough to make a case about.

Thanks, I'll just use unleaded. Ill keep you ninformed on how the restoration is going. Right now I'm trying to find a serial # or something to find out what I got. Paperwork says Ford Golden Jubilee Tractor. Hope after a good cleanup I can find some numbers.:

Good luck, we thought we had a Jubilee when we bought it, but it turned out it wasn't.

I know what you mean on that one.I went to go check on a old 8n of my Grandfathers to move it back. When I started checking the condition of it ,which is excellent and all intact.I kept seeing only 6 cylinders :confused:Huh??
After checking I found out I was right that there was a 6Cyl.,Thanks to Sound Guy.
It was killing me not knowing for sure. I had to call my Cousin to go back out and make sure what I was looking at again. Yeap! Rare,Funk 6 I'm going to go get it and start the restoration on it in a few Wks.:D
