I am in the process of reviewing a compact tractor to purchase. I think I have looked at most, or it seems like it. I am interested in a @30 HP +/-, front loader, HST. I have owned a Kubota B7800. JD, NH and Kubota seem to not know there is a recession here. But I am a little concerned about Kioti, Mahindra, KYM, Branson & Bobcat.

I had narrowed it down to a Mahindra, but the paint fades quickly. Now I hear KYM makes some Mahindra. So Confused.

I am looking for the best for the least, But will buy the best. Anyone have any advice to share?

Thank You for sharing

Bubba

Have you looked at Cub Cadet Yanmar? The EX3200 with loader looks pretty nice.

I am assuming you are looking at a 15 or 16 series Mahindra tractor. The 15 and 16 series tractors are both manufactured by Mitsubishi in Japan, for Mahindra. You won't find a better engineered tractor. I almost never see any warranty claims on them and they do have the best warranty in the business right now. As for the paint, they all will fade if not housed inside. If you are really particular about your tractor and equipment, you will keep them inside. Good luck with what ever tractor you choose.

A lot depends on your local dealers if they have a real service facility or not.
Like my local KYM dealer has lots of equipment but a tiny little shop,so I wouldn't even consider it.Same goes for my local Kioti. Bobcat was just coming out with compact tractors when I bought my Kubota. I didn't want something brand new on the market.I wanted something time proven. good luck.

I owned a 'bota and sold it to go bigger. I looked at Mahindra, Branson, New Holland, Bobcat & Deere. I bought a McCormick.

I bought a Kioti last year and love it. I was in the same boat as you pretty much, except I had never owned a tractor. I chose the Kioti based on:

1. Price
2. Weight/sturdy build
3. Dealer location (about 15 miles from my home)

A lot of the decision, as you probably know, depends on what you're going to use the tractor for. I chose the heavier Kioti tractor because I knew I'd be doing a lot of ground engagement with the FEL, box blade, etc. My Kioti CK27 (28 HP) weighs in at 3161 lbs. from the factory. I have liquid-filled tires, FEL and a box blade attachment, so my overall weight would be something around 4500 lbs. The Mahindra weighs in at about 2400 hundred pounds from the factory (the 2815 model). So, the Kioti would be about 700 lbs. heavier, which is important for ground engagement.

If mowing is the primary job, I would go with the lighter tractor to limit turf damage.

Depends on what you are doing... What do you plan to do? And how much, ie mowing 10 acres or cleaning barns, or?

Biggest suggestion is to:
1 - List out the things you will be using the tractor for(include how much, ie mowing 5 acres, mowing 10 acres)
2 - Size the tractor and implements from there
3 - Drive them all. Demo them if the dealers will let you.

Two things you will find mentioned on TBN all the time
- Drive them all
- Good dealer can be more important than the brand of tractor

I have a Mahindra 2615 that I bought used almost a year ago and have been pleased with it. As to paint fading my tractor was bought new in 2006 and shows no signs of fade. The loader is slightly faded. The previous owner kept the tractor under a open sided shed and I keep it in my shop most of the time. I suspect the previous owner took the loader off and left it outside. Or it could be that the loaders are manufactured by a different company and they use a different paint process. Even slightly faded the loader works fine. Maybe one of the tractor waxers will come wax it back its natural luster.
