Kubota B7800 with FEL
From what I have been reading on these posts I am getting the opinion that the front drive gears on Kubota's are as fragile as glass. Don't use front chains, don't run them on dry pavement, and don't put a strain on them, etc. Some things like not running on dry pavement I can understand. I'm almost afraid to put mine in 4WD anymore.

Not me. I am either in my garden, on my dirt, or on snow, so I stick in 4 wheel rather fearlessly, I admit, and have at it!! To each his own. My little BX doesn't weigh much, so 4 wheel it is.:)

I have had a B 7800 for 6 yrs with no problems with 4 x4 on any surface

I never hesitated to use the 4WD on my B7100 and B2710 and never had a problem with either one. I did take it out of 4WD when it wasn't needed and when I drove them on pavement. But before I bought the first Kubota, I visited a dealer who had a B7100 rental unit with 800 hours on it that he had for sale. He just wasn't discounting it enough for me to buy it, but I noticed it was in 4WD and mentioned that to the salesman. He told me they put their rental units in 4WD and leave them there all the time. Now whether he was just trying to make a sale or whether he actually knew what he was talking about is something I don't know.

I've used mine in 4wd while turning on asphalt...Don't recommend it on a daily basis, but it hasn't affected mine that I know of.

I have not read anything of the such in any posts here. I use 4WD at will with no second thoughts of breaking glass.

Please post a link to said posts for further reading.

There are no posts that I have read that says they are as fragile as glass. But there are a lot of posts on cautioning the use of 4WD on Kubota's that is not refuted by Kubota owners. I have gotten this opinion from reading past posts. I am researching purchasing rear tire chains for my B7800. Again, the fragility of the front gears seems to stick out. That the front gears will turn to vapor if front chains are used in the posts I am reading.

I hear you.... so please post a link to the vapor of gears with chains. I just want to read the same post(s) for further information. Thanks.

From all that I have seen here (pictures included as well as happy owners with chains) that isn't an issue as far as I can tell.

I do not know how to post a link. Please read "Tire Chains on industrial tires?" posted today in the Owner/Operating forum.
